What about changing the rules so that the winning conference gets some perk in those interconference games...4 timeouts per half, up to 4 replay challenges, kick off from the 40 instead of the 30, receive the kickoff both halves, Field Goals count 4 points in that game, or 5 points beyond 50...etc; something that would give the winning conference a small competitive advantage that would make the game mean something, but not skew the results so far as to make it unfair.

I guess living in the bowels of a mountain gives you a long time to think about things.

I think it would be fair to agree with that :D

The Pro Bowl is always going to be meaningless. It's impossible for coaches to implement a coherent game plan in a week. There's no way around that. The reason the MLB All-Star game works is because baseball is based much more on individual performances than football is.

Just to make it interesting to watch, they should have the players switch positions throughout the game. But have weight limits on each position. So the quarterback could not line up as right tackle. That way it reduces the chance of injury.

But just for starters, you could put a linebacker at quarterback. Line up your defensive end as running back. Have your punter run WR routes. :laugh2:

Or put the entire offensive line on defense and defensive line on offense. See how they feel on the other side.

I would like to see Owens try punting the ball.

Although it would be ugly, I would enjoy watching that because it would be unusual to see your favorite players lining up in these positions. I'm sure they would have a lot of fun.

Obviously there would be many faults in this idea but it would fun to watch nonetheless. At least for me.

Not a big fan of the pro bowl.

The last thing I want to happen is see Romo or Ware get injured in a meaningless exhibition game. I realize players rarely suffer major injuries during the game, but the possibility is there.

Honestly, the biggest problem I have with the game is something you can't fix. Who decides what system the defense uses? So, Ware lines up in the 3-4 all season and goes to the Pro Bowl -- where they're playing a 4-3. On top of that, they're not allowed to blitz or (practically) sack the quarterback. It's lame. As was said earlier, it's a glorified game of flag football.

There's too much money on the line to make it competitive. Can you imagine Ware blowing out his knee in a Pro Bowl game because an overzealous lineman had to stop him by any means? It is what it is... The days of Pete Rose bowling over Ray Fosse (effectively ending Fosse's career) at homeplate in the All Star game are over. Noone wants to risk their career going all out at an exhibition game and I'm sure management doesn't want to see that either.

But this I'll vote for! (though I'd imagine everyone hesitating to make tackles as the exposed "junk" is flapping around....)

Putting meaning behind the pro bowl will be fine until a team loses a player to a career ending injury. The pro bowl is what it is. A showcase of the best players in the NFL. Nobody gets hurt, everybody has a good time, and nobody cares or knows at the end of the day who won. It is like a PeeWee football game where everybody plays and nobody keeps score.
