How was Escobar's TD catch not a TD?

His knee hit the ground, but he was moving forward, and was not touched. So his momentum carries him into the endzone. So should that have been a TD. It is the same as if a player falls down, or dives for a catch, but goes untouched, and gets up and runs.

I think it should have been a TD also.

Or it did not look clear to me he was touched or the defender caused him to go to the ground.

They said his shin touched Mother Earth prior to the ball crossing the plane. The replay was not enough to over turn the ruling on the field..

The instant replay was pretty clear in showing at the moment his knee hit the ground the ball had crossed the line by 4" or so.

There were a lot of wierd things in that game and Escobar's non-TD was one of them.

Because his knee hit the ground before the ball crossed the goal line.

I didn't see it that way..

I really felt the tip of the ball crossed the goal in at the moment his knee touched the ground.

TD to me??

you break the plane of the white stripe..

It's a score just like touching or holding the ball over the pylon as you lunge to it.

Poor call.

This exactly! He wasn't touched before the ball broke the goal line. Still, as big as he is, he should have kept his legs underneath him.

They said on the cowboys radio broadcast that Ryan's touched the heel of his shoe as his knee went down. That said I thought the ball broke the plane as the knee went down . Thought it was a td myself

As fans we can often be bias towards our Cowboys. Sometimes we criticize the refs unfairly....

This isn't one of those times. No angle makes taking away that TD a good call. Joe Buck and Troy were speculating that his Shin may have come down. Is that even physically possible?

His shin was down before he broke the plane, that counts just as much as a knee being down. The sad thing is, and what bothered me most, is that they couldn't pound it in from that close.

Sorry. I didn't see it being that close at all. When his knee hits the ball is clearly over the line. I could not believe it wasn't ruled a TD.

need slow gif or something

That's what I was thinking! He's a good athlete but not a freaking double-jointed contortionist!

That said, I think a good number of questionable calls went the Cowboys' way today...
