Sorry, but still can't get over it, couldn't even sleep well. This draft is going to haunt me for a while, nothing can justify passing on Floyd.

In Kiffens system the DT needs to be a Pass Rusher get up the field type and Sharriff Floyd is more of a Stuff the Run type and didn't fit their scheme. In my opinion players that would fit their scheme @ #47 would be Kwane Short DT Purdue or Cyprein, Safety FL Int

Apparently you've never seen Floyd play. He is way more of a pass rusher than he is a run stuffer. I'd put him right up there with Richardson as best rushing DT in this draft.

I think he landed where he should. Mid to late first round prospect, depending on what type of D you run.

Evidently the Cowboys weren't the only team that didn't have him with a top five grade.

They figured they are fine at the 1 tech with Ratliff and Lissimore. Next year, they may even plan on keeping Brent who is also a 1 tech. I think they valued Richardson, who is more of a 3 tech more and would've taken him.

But the Cowboys have been saying for a while they are good at DT. I think Stephen Jones even said the biggest need on defense is safety.

The Cowboys did not feel he fit their system. It's that simple.

We don't need Joe Montana -- we have Danny White and Gary Hogeboom. Let's take something we have a need for - not BPA on our board.

That's interesting for sure. Out of curiosity I looked up Shariff Floyd's game log for the last 2 years.

2012
0 sacks in SEC conference play
0 sacks vs. Bowling Green
0 vs. Louisiana Lafayette
0 vs.Jacksonville State
His first sack of the year came in the last game against FSU.
He then had 2 sacks vs. UL in the bowl game.

2011
0 sacks in SEC conference play
0 vs. Florida Atlantic
0 vs UAB
0 vs Furman
His only sacks that year came against that same sorry OSU team. He had 1.5 in the bowl game.

4.5 sacks for career. 3.5 of those came in the 2 bowl games.

Nothing about his play on the field spells pass rusher.

Anybody who watches Florida Football and sees Floyd as a pass rusher is not watching very closely IMO. He's pretty darn good against the run and he can hold his position against most OLs but he's not a guy who's going to get sacks for you or even cave the pocket IMO. I don't see that out of him.

Those 2 players are at the top of my Day 2 wishlist.

Exactly, the guy is not a pass rusher and that is why he fell like a rock. He also has really short arms, not good for an NFL DT.

He is more of a prototype nose tackle in a 34, Jerry said as much.

Floyd was overrated by all the so called "experts". Remember, he had a total of 4.5 sacks in 3 years.

You must not have actually watched him play then. He penetrated plenty into the backfield. May not have resulted in a bunch of sacks, but he looked dominant on film. Also, If you watched the film you would also realize that he played a lot of DE in both the 4-3 and 3-4. That's never going to result in a 300 lb man getting sacks.
