Will Coale be paid as a 5th rounder or as a PS player? When a player comes off PS to Active what is their salary structure?

He'll get paid better than most college graduates his age. Since he got a free ride at va tech. No student loans!

This is a great question.

To add more confusion to this the Cowboys can offer as much money as they want to keep Coale from signing elsewhere.

Practice squad players practice alongside regular roster players during the week, but they are not allowed to play in actual games. They can be paid considerably less than active squad players: The minimum salary from 2008 to 2010 is $5,200 per week (2008-2010)[1] for 17 weeks, or $88,400 per season, in comparison to the NFL minimum rookie salary of $285,000. Some practice squad players are paid considerably more, however. In 2006, the New England Patriots paid third-year player Billy Yates the full $425,000 he would have earned on the active roster.[

Like last season, a practice squad player's minimum salary is $5,700 a week. There is no maximum amount for a practice squad salary, and teams in the past have paid extra to players to lure them from another team. However, practice squad salaries do count against the salary cap, a change that started last year with the new collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the NFL Players Association.

I'm guessing he gets around $5k/week like any other practice squad player. He gets to keep all of his bonus money, whatever that was.

When/if he gets on a 53 man roster, he will get the rookie min.

Hopefully Danny wasn't a petroleum engineering major. Might have to take a pay cut.
