Only 7 teams from each conference makes the playoffs so 7 plus 7 equals 14 not 16.

14 of 32 make it and there’s so much parody in the nfl that it won’t be watered down. It’s not like the nba where 98% (guessing) of the time the 1 seed beats the 8 seed

Oh I agree. There are just those that don't believe a bunch of 9-7 teams deserve to be in the playoffs based off their regular season. If you applied this rule since the realignment the majority of teams getting the extra spot would either be 8-8 or 9-7 with a few 10-6 thrown in. So good for the 10-6 teams, but 75% otherwise.

It is too many. I’m sure expansion will happen again down the road and it may then be 14 of 36 if/when they add 4 teams. That will be pretty close to the ratio we’ve had of 12/32. But it may be quite some time before the league can add 4 more teams...
