How Will The Roster Churn?

I imagine Jerry is working the phones a little as the cutdown to 53 approaches today. The deadline to hit 53 is 4:00 PM Eastern, so there is a little less than 6 hours left and all 6 hours will not be used.

Is there a WR in our Future? A 3rd string QB?

I believe we really wanted Beck, but with Miami trading McCown to the Panthers there's probably little chance we make that deal today. I do assume Bartel will be among the cuts and that after he clears waivers he will land on the Practice Squad again. I doubt Miami will go with just 2 QBs in Pennington and Henne. Unless they bring Q back. That would make me happy, then we could get Beck. They surprised me by trading McCown. I figured Parcells would prefer an experienced veteran if Pennington does his prone act.

I figure that means when Chris Simms is cut today that if he clears waivers we will be on the phone to him. Will he clear waivers? I don't know. Tampa isn't going to keep 4 QBs and for some reason he's their designated cut.

If we go with 3 QBs on the roster the 3rd will be Simms or Beck in a miracle trade that I don't expect. Maybe Miami will claim Simms and then trade us Beck. They do have first dibs on all waivers. It is a move I hope happens.

I'm more confused about Jerry's cryptic announcement of we won't acquire a WR who hasn't worked with Tony Romo already. I confess, I don't understand the logic of that. The idea is to "get better" and right now that means two things. Making the roster better and having enough healthy WRs to start the season. By my count we have exactly 4 of them and 2 have no experience when the game matters. Does Terry Glenn get a call? I seriously doubt it. I figure his career is over. He has caught his last pass.

How has the acquisition of Montrae Holland changed the dynamics on the O-line? Will we keep 9 or 10 on the O-line, and who will turn in their playbook. Perhaps this is the most compelling question today. There are pundits out there who think he was brought here to start and once Kosier comes back he will be our top backup. I'm fine with that if he's better than Kosier, but how long will it take him to build chemistry with Flo and Andre? That's a key question.

Will anyone be put on IR? I don't think so, but I can be shocked.

We have depth at CB. Will we use all of them or is Anthony Henry a possible trade we could make? I would, in a package for a top WR opposite TO, but my phone won't ring. Jerry's will. You can count on that. Will the price be right?

We meet the 2008 Dallas Cowboys today. We know the stars. We know some who will have an impact. Today we find out who is churned.

9 hours? I've got like 5 1/2 hours by my clock. Am I missing something?

I'm completely lost here. I've got to admit, I have no idea what is going to happen. Looking forward to it regardless.

Simms doesn't have to clear waivers. He'll be released and free to sign with whom he chooses. He's been in the league long enough to not have to worry about waivers.

Regarding Simms, Gruden's offense is pretty complex right?

How complex is Garretts? I guess what I am saying is if we brought Simms in realistically how long before he would know the offense well enough to play?

I listen to gruden's play calls and my head spins.

As for as WR goes, if Jerry sticks to his word, I see us using Felix and Pacman to help until the other get healthy.

CB trade most likely - Also issues at Dline and LB
Oline we can go short - JAGS are everywhere or PS
2 QB;s - no reason to carry Bartlel on 53
May only have 2 WR's suited up week 1

Keith Davis to be brought in soon

We don't want him to play. He's nothing more than Insurance.

It doesn't matter if he could play this year in our system. It would take both Romo and Johnson going down to get him in the game and I think that we would be screwed anyway in that case. What we need him to do is come in and learn the system and be ready to backup Romo next year when Johnson creaks of into retirement on his Rascal Scooter.

He scrambles pretty good on that thing.
