How would you feel about Mathew Golden at 12

Golden isn't that yet. He could get there. His production this year is almost double what he did his first two years at Houston. I think he should have played his senior year. No need for him to do that if he goes top 15 in this draft, but it would of helped with my concerns if he improved again.

It won't be a bad pick if he continues to ascend.
That’s what I’m excited about.

I see an ascending player with amazing physical talents.

And I trust in the guy who coached up Cooper Kupp to take him to the next level.

I'd hate it and I like the player fine. Golden isn't and has never been 1st round, much less 12th overall type talent. He was firmly rooted in the 2nd until he ran the 40. It was a great 40 time but shouldn't have propelled a 5"11 190 pound receiver with limited production to the top of the board. If we weren't a team that is absolutely ravenous for not only a WR, but a fast WR this conversation wouldn't be happening and still shouldn't.
How tall is Tyreek Hill?

What does he weigh?

Good kid, who works hard is quick **, and appears to be getting better. I'll take that and be happy.

I hate his lack of production.

Physically, I don't even think his standout trait is his speed (he looks MUCH more like a low 4.4 guy than a 4.2 guy), it's his acceleration. He can explode off the line and put a corner on his heels, then smash on the brakes and separate. There's tons of fast guys in the NFL, but Golden stands out because of how effortlessly he can change speed. He's got that twitch.

My question is, if he's this fast, twitchy separator, why isn't he getting the football? His yards per route stats are miserable. I know Quinn Ewers isn't a good NFL QB prospect at all, but in the grand scheme of power 5 college QBs, he's at least average. Golden was on a really talented offense and facing little attention from defenses. He had some huge games down the stretch where he showed his potential, but you are betting a very high draft pick on a very small stretch of games.

Watching Golden’s highlights, he was routinely having to adjust to poorly thrown balls or blowing by defenders and having to wait for Ewers to get him the football.

That quarterback was a detriment, not a positive. I’d want nothing to do with Ewers at the NFL level.

90% chance he’s the pick. He’s everything the Cowboys thought they were getting when they signed Gallup to that big deal. #2 receiver is the biggest hole on offense.

There should be a third option 'OK'. Golden is definitely a good prospect with great speed, quickness, route running and intangibles, but has a production red flag. He could just be coming into his own, or he could be John Ross.

If we take him, fine. It's a bet on his talent. If we take him over a better player in Tet, I'm not too happy.

I think he’s exactly what this team needs on offense. He brings the element that the receivers group and passing game is lacking.

And Junior Adams can help take his game to that next level.

It will only be up to the quarterback’s ability to get him the football.

I disagree that Tet is the ‘better player’.

Drafting is as much about projection as it is evaluating the player present day. The Cowboys are likely projecting what Golden could be with a better QB throwing him the ball.

Drafting skill positions is exciting so I would be anxious to see what he can become. However, my sentiment also depends on who else is there and where they draft him. I think he has upside, but also worried he has the makings of a bust seeing he wasn't exactly dominant where he's played. I get the belief that Ewers held him back, but you also have to consider his time at Houston. He was 3rd on the team his Freshman year behind Tank Dell and one other guy. Then the following year both those guys are gone and he was a number 3 behind 2 guys likely going undrafted. I'm sure he's improved since then and could have been other factors at play but it gives me some pause on the pick. I wonder if Golden is a product of a weak receiver class and a fast 40 time that is really a 2nd or 3rd round talent now slated to go in round 1.

WR2 makes sense for some fans, not me. He doesnt move the needle much. Get someone who can stuff the run or move people in the running game. Now that makes sense and moves the needle. Wont sell jerseys but will make your team better.
