The Draft
There are seven rounds in the draft. There are seven days in the week. I would have one round per night starting on Monday night, until the draft completed the following Sunday.
The Schedule
More is better. The NBA has 82 games. MLB has 162(ish). The NFL is more popular than both those sports combined. BUT the game is more physical, and you realistically can only have a team play one game a week. The good news is there are 52 weeks in a year. We already know the draft will take up one week, so we now have 51. Figure the playoffs and Super Bowl take up 5 weeks, and we now have 46 weeks. I think a 2 week off season is more than sufficient. I propose a 44 week schedule, with teams having 4 bye weeks. Each team will play 40 NFL games per season. Due to the virtual year round schedule, there would be no need for training camps or pre-season. More is better.
Overseas Expansion
We need to stop being selfish and depriving the rest of the world from our NFL. The NFL will play no less than 30 games over seas throughout the season. This would work wonders in the way of bringing about World Peace. Do you honestly think the Taliban would attack our troops when they could go watch the Chiefs vs. Jets in the heart of Iran? Also, if the NFL had a game down in Haiti right now, then we could bring extra Gatorade to help the natives.
Rosters Expansion
Due to the increased work load, I think it is neccessary to allow teams to carry an extra one or two players into the season. Lets allow teams to have 55 roster spots available. 53 is such a random number anyway, right? But, we will also allow all 55 to be active on game day. The 45 active makes no sense to begin with.
Affirmative Action
Teams will have to work out at least one white wide receiver, running back, cornerback, or linebacker prior to signing a player from the aforementioned positions in free agency.
