How would you rank our needs this offseason?

I would rank them in this order:

1. DE (need to improve the pass-rush)
2. CB (T-new's eventual replacement; he may be gone as early as next season)
3. OG (Kosier is wearing down)
4. FB (Not sure if Fiametta is coming back and this is an important position for our offense)
5. S (Can we resign both safeties? They're doing a solid job, but long term?)
6. C (Costa is solid and Kowalski shows promise; not as urgent as OG)

I think we need some new faces to anchor that defense for the future, similar to what the 2005 draft was. We got the players that were supposed to mold the 3-4 (Ware, Spears, Canty, Burnett, and Ratliff). Under Rob Ryan, if he sticks around for next season, we've gotta get the talent that will fit his system and become the identity of this defense for the next 5+ years.

Pass rusher - need more pressure on QB than just Ware
Interior OL - center or guard (need both - get the other in FA)
Corner - potential future starter, play nickel/dime immediately, KR upgrade
FB - bruising lead blocker in case Fiammetta cannot go
ILB - end of line for Brooking/James, even if Carter ready, need depth
TE - blocking TE if Bennett not re-signed

Well when you look at the needs you also have to look at the players that have expiring contracts.

1. Center; draft
2. OG (OL has played better since Holland stepped in but not good enough)
draft and/or FA(Nicks,Grubbs)
3. CB(after seeing Miami beat up Ball and Newman, time for a new CB) Draft would be the way to go.
4. SOLB(need to resign Spencer, he may not be the elite pass rusher but is a very good player, if he can agree on a fair deal then resign him)
5. Saftey (both positions, Sensy and Elam are FAs after this year, I say resign them both and maybe if Martin or McDonald is high on the draft board draft one for future replacement)
6. NT (I love Ratliff but at his age and size and how he can get up field I think he would be a great 3-4 DE. I think you get a 31-32 year old FA like Garay or Pouha and draft Short or Williams in the mid rounds.
7. 3-4 DE; sign Calsis Campbell; enough said.
8. speed WR' return specialist-draft
9. #3 WR; resign Robinson

Need outside help:

#1: OC (draft)
#2: OG (FA)
#3: NT (FA or draft)
#4: return specialist
#5: ILB (draft; if carter plays well, this goes below CB)
#6: CB (draft)
#7: backup OT
#8: developmental QB

less of a need if we re-sign our guys:

SOLB (Spencer)
Safety (Sensi and Elam)
WR (robinson)

I would rank in this order

1. Interior OL (G and C one early the other late or FA)
2. CB ( T New wont be around much longer and I hate watching Alan Ball)
3. OLB ( I dont see spencer on the roster next year)
4. DE (pass rush)
5. S (both are free agents need to get someone who can start if needed)
6. NT (depth behing Rat)
7. Return specialist (could be filled by a cb like janoris jenkins, cliff harris, boykin)

1. OG

2. Kick return specialist

3. DE

4. Center

5. FB

Resign Sensi, Elam, Robinson, and Spencer (if its a good deal)

This isn't the order I'd rank the needs, but it's basically how I'd prioritize finding players to add to the roster, if that makes sense. You have to go early at DE and CB to get anyone with talent. If we can find a DE in FA (which I think we try to do), you can put QB up there at 1 or 2. If not, I'd let it slide another offseason if you can't get somebody very highly rated on your board.

Not sure what we do at C. You're not likely to upgrade that position unless you spend a really high pick on one, and I can't justify doing that with our other needs. I think we probably put a developmental ILB on the list in your 5 or 6 slot, too.

I say attack the needs at the trenches and the rest will take care of itself.

1. OG - Nagy was pretty bad before he got hurt, even with marginal guys in there like Holland the line looks so much better.
2. C - Costa has improved, but if we can get a standout, I'm all for it.
3. S - Still think we need a playmaker back there, although Sensy seems to be doing a lot more of that these days.
4. DE - Ratliff needs more help, keep Hatcher and replace Coleman
5. NT - Again, Ratliff needs help.

Wow!

Center is our #1 need this off season followed closely by OG

long before we address CB or DE

Anyone that thinks Costa is solid has not watched closely.

We need to get a real center; if Kowalski is not a possibility we pretty much will have to use a 2nd or 3rd on one.

Either a DE or OLB that can REALLY rush the passer is the #1 need to me; Ware needs help.
After that comes center.

We also need another CB.

I say pick the best player on the board, regardless of position (to an extent).

lol, what a philosophy. Take the best player, except when you don't. ;)

haha you know what I mean. You don't want to draft 4 wide recievers in the first 4 rounds or anything crazy like that just because they are the best players on your board. But if in the first round we are drafting at 32 and Alshon Jeffery is on the board, and our staff feels he is the best player in the draft left on the board, then I wouldn't have a problem with them taking him despite the fact that WR is not an immediate need for the team. IMO, better to draft the players you feel have the highest chance of future success than to draft guys with the intent of having them come in and making an immediate impact at a position of weekness.Because, frankly, you have no idea how they are going to perform, so try to increase your odds.

Interior OL can definitely be upgraded, but we're very servicable. I find it amazing that our rookie RB runs for 750 yards in about 6 games with a supposedly pathetic interior OL. When I go back and watch Costa he's more than servicable. He's just the dog everyone wants to kick, especially by those who are butthurt about Gurode.

I would take pass rusher first. They're the most difficult to find and the most premium position. I also think we have young OL on the roster we can develop. Odds are likely Butler and Spencer are what they are at this point.

I think "serviceable" is a good word. I mean this team is 8th in the NFL in scoring. 13th in rushing yards per game (after a horrible start) and 8th in YPC. You would swear that some think this is the worst offensive line in football.

I could easily see the first 3 picks of the draft go towards the defensive side...

DE, OLB, C, Safety... Pick three... My two out of the three would be DE and CB.

Simply put....the trenches and pass rush.

Konz and Upshaw.

This line is bad . Romo and Murray makes them look better than what they are.

the tackles are fine now; its the interior that needs work. Nagy worries me because of his size; Arkin should be good with time to muscle up. Costa is just too limited as couchscout said.
