how would you say this name?

I'm not sure why that comment would make it racist. I don't see anything declaring race had something to do with it. (unless you're talking about Ross Perot's "You people" comment!) :laugh2:

I would be worried about anyone voting that named their child like that. Black, white or whatever.

If you don't see why it COULD be, then I can't help you. The original chain letter is obviously meant to say that "uneducated" black people shouldn't be allowed to vote.

If you had replaced all the obvious subtext with the connotation being that redneck, uneducated white people shouldn't be allowed to vote, it'd be the same thing.

The fact that the subject happens to black, in other words, is not what makes it possibly racist.

I didn't see the original letter.

I went to college with a guy who's name was:

Jere7my Tho?rpe

But he got really mad if you called him "Jere-seven-me" as he insisted that the 7 was silent.

I would also get a quizzical look on my face when I pronounced the "Tho?rpe" to emphasize the question mark.

Wrong, we will enter some time of world war before that happens. To many self-centered, self-righteous, greedy, power hungry people in control of our government. They will (like Saddam) attack another country to remain in power / money if that is what it takes.

You do realize that 1st world, 2nd world, 3rd world labels aren't a ranking system, right?

First world is the democratic "West". Second world was communist bloc. Third world is everything not included in those first two groups.

Not to mention that the label hasn't really been in use for good reason for a decade or two now.

I don't think uneducated people should be allowed to vote. I think you should have to take a test on the issues, or at the very least understand and take a test on the U.S. Constitution. I don't care what color you are.

If you don't understand the Constitution, how can you decide the fate of the country?

We have way too many stupid people voting.

I'm not against stupid people breeding. I'm just against the ill informed having input on decisions they don't know anything about.
