Hows the passrush? Does it looked improved? Hows Ware doing?

The last thing I want to see is Ellis matched up on Witten.

I also not really interested in Ware covering TO. Why?

Isn't Ware and Ellis our best passrushers? Then why are they on coverage against our best recievers?

I just think that there is better use with Ellis and Ware. They're better off rushing the passer or working on their passrush.

According to all reports the pass rush is going right through the OL making them look very bad and raising concerns that they will be a weak spot.

The reason guys switch up and drop from pass rush into pass protection is so that it confuses the offense and makes them have to adjust.

hey hey hey

stop stop stop

reason, and logic does not compute on this board. UNderstand, we must at all costs refrain from using logic and reason in making replies, and only react with rash impulse thoughts.

As OLB it is part of their job at times to drop off in coverage. If the OC knows that this guy will never drop off in coverage they will exploit that player and that weakness.

Reminds me of that little dog in the cartoon that is always following the big dog, asking him, "Hey, Mike, can we play fetch, Mike? Whataya say, Mike? I'll fetch the stick if you throw it Mike. All you have to do is throw it, Mike, and I'll fetch it, Mike, I promise, Mike, comeon Mike, whatdoya say Mike?"

Hey Mike, Hey Mike isn't OLB in a 3-4 where most of the pressure comes from? Hey Mike is it, is it?

Our pass rush should be better at every spot except for NT. While you may not like seeing our passrushers cover man-to-man, it's the very reason why we are playing a 3-4 defense. By dropping back into coverage from time to time, it keeps your undersized rushers fresher and gives an the defense an unpredictabilty which makes it harder for offenses to exploit favorable matchups.

The key is to not allow a LB to cover a WR in a condition the opponent can predict.

Remember 1995 when Dallas had Darrin Smith covering a Philly slot WR and he was fast enough to cover him? Well that attracted a lot of attention, and the very next week San Franscisco lined up Jerry Rice in the slot (and tweedle dee and dum Davis and Campo had Deion Sanders religiously lined up on the right side) and he blew right by the linebacker and safety and took a short pass for a touchdown on the very first series. The Cowboys mentally never recovered, giving up turnover after turnover before settling down and running Emmitt. We lost 38-20. At one point the comedy reached it's height when on a zone-blitz Tony Tolbert was forced to drop back and cover Brent Jones who of course was wide open.

The stupidity of the whole mess was that three weeks later the same damned thing happened vs. Washington. Norv Turner exploited the same weakness in the slot while our brilliant DC's had Deion Sanders covering Jamie Asher the TE. Turner couldn't believe we hadn't adjusted our defense at all to what San Fran had done.

So while I'm all for moving players around and creating confusion I am absolutely wary of creating weaknesses such as Greg Ellis predictably covering a WR or TE. Against H-Backs this could get comical, no way can Ellis cover an H-back worth his salt, especially since the pre-snap read of what the H-back is about to do is not easy for a newbie LB.

the thing is, right now BP has already said, to predict what were gonna do in TC right now is pointless, cause we'll be wrong. Right now he's just trying differnet things, seeing what certain players have the ability to do, what there good and at and so on. To think Ellis would be covering WR or H-backs right now is pointless, as that may not be plan later on.
