After today's practice, the Cowboys downgraded FB Oliver Hoyte to out. Hoyte was expecting to make the trip to Buffalo, after being a game-time decision last week. But that was dependent on the strength in his injured neck, and it appears that just hadn't been displayed as the team prepares to travel.

Hoyte is healing from a C-5 sprain. He'll be replaced by rookie Deon Anderson, with whom the Cowboys running game hasn't missed a beat.

Well that sucks. There's a huge drop off between Hoyte and Anderson. Hoyte actually blocks, whereas Anderson simply gets in the way.

Let this thread stand as a testament to how little fans care about the fullback position.

I'd like to have our best blocker in there, here's hoping Oliver "Stone Hands" Hoyte gets healthy soon, but in the meantime, I'm glad to see Deon get some reps.

yeah he seems tenative out there but I also think that this experience is invaluable for him and hell come around.

This was always my biggest concern about Hoyte. His recklessness leaves him a little susceptible to injuries, and I think that is what slowed him last year.

Deon Anderson isn't quite the thumper that Hoyte is, but he does a pretty good job. I think he can do the job.

Good thing we drafted Anderson, we would be screwed without him.

Deon Anderson is a rookie, I fully expected some second guessing and hesitancy out of him... I believe he too will only get better with playing time. I like his overall skills better than Hoytes, he's got 2 bricks for hands!
