I had heard early on he was retiring season end. Is Garrett bringing him back. Do you think we need to look for a new OL coach?

Houck and Garrett are reportedly tight and they were looking at Dan Campbell as an assistant where Campbell said that he and Houck were going to spend some time together and see if it would work. He's coming back.

I want another coach. And I want another philosophy on the line.

I don't care for the idea of getting the biggest and fattest because they have ZERO mobility.

Give me an average sized OL with mobility.

I really think that Dallas' inability to run a screen in just about forever is partly due to the inability of the Dallas line to get out in space very well.

Just give me smart players.

this more than anything,we are handicapped by Houck's philosophy and it doesnt mesh with Garrett's playcalling.

we have been pretty good at the screen plays the past season and a half and free is one of the reasons, he doesnt fit the big and slow mode.

I was totally through with Houck until I found out about Wade's refusal to make them practice in pads, now I'm not so sure. Unfortunately the biggest determining factor will be how seriously(and competently) Jerry Jones addresses the personell deficiencies,,, and Jerry's track record sucks,,,

Agreed, they've been pretty good with screens lately.

Here's the Campbell quote.

Former Dallas Cowboys tight end Dan Campbell was in town Tuesday, interviewing to be the assistant offensive line coach for his former team. He would serve under Hudson Houck.

Campbell said he would be back in town in a few days to meet with Houck.

"I'll let him grill me a little bit and see if it's a fit," Campbell said in a phone interview.

What happened to Erik Williams?

I thought he was Houck's assistant O-Line coach?

I wouldn't say "good" but I guess a slight improvement over "horrid" is a step in the right direction.

I would imagine that getting rid of Davis and Colombo is really going to help.

Houck arrived after the 1992 Super Bowl vs Buffalo when Tony Wise left with Dave Wannstedt. He did an outstanding job here.

He's still a good OL coach, he just needs a couple guys who can play at RT and RG.

Amen. I don't like our OL. We don't seem to have any "complete" offensive lineman. Colombo, Gurode and Davis are huge and slow. Kosier is ok but gets overpowered at times - at least he's smart and technically sound. Free has size and athleticism, but lacks strength. We can get by with Free, Gurode and Kosier, but we need to replace Davis and Colombo with more athletic players. With Felix, Dez and Austin, we could really kill teams with screens if we had an OL that could get out of their own way. Those screens would slow down blitzes and allow Romo to hit some big plays for us. We absolutely have to get a G and T this offseason that are upgrades and can move.

On a side note, it just SUCKS watching these other teams play in the postseason. Just painful and the StEAlers have a shot at #7. Ugh!

Interestingly, the offensive line played much better with Garrett running practice compared to Wade.

I'm thinking that the offensive line's problems don't begin and end with Houck at all. Just my $0.02.

Erik Williams was just brought in for a program to help minorities interested in coaching get started.

Basically it was an internship.

That's a name I have not heard in years. We should get wise back here look at Pitts bio on him it looks solid. I'd give him a shot if houck leaves.
