I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that most of you would want to pick Mike Huff at #18 if he were available. I'll also go out on another limb and say most of you have decided that there is no chance he will be available, and thus found a different free safety prospect to target. Well, if the history of the draft means anything, we may have an excellent shot at getting him with the 18th pick.
Here's a list of every single safety selected before pick #18 since the year 1992 (Troy Vincent went #7 that year, but ended up playing corner his whole career until 2004):
Roy Williams, #8, 2002
Troy Polamalu, #16, 2003
Sean Taylor, #5, 2004
Thomas Davis, #14, 2005 (not even going to play safety this year)
That is it people. 4, four, FOUR in the last 13 years! And notice what they are that Huff isn't? Physical, intimidating hitters. Huff is a good tackler, but he doesn't scare anybody over the middle. Ed Reed was AMAZING at Miami, an elite cover safety. He was picked 24th. Coverage safeties do not get drafted high. Huff to the Cowboys at 18 is VERY possible.
Or maybe I'm just dreaming...
