I think he improved substantially towards the end of the season. But I don't think Steele is going anywhere before 2026. They don't have anyone who has proven to be better. People talk about moving Guyton to the right side and shifting Tyler Smith to LT but I don't thatk that's going to happen, and I don't think Guyton has given us any reason to believe he would be any better than Steele.Terrence Steele's calling card has always been is run blocking, but his pass protection has to improve or he will find himself off this roster. However, he will be given every opportunity to succeed, but he may have reached his peak potential.
Last season he gave up 9 sacks and 37 pressures. He was ranked 91st out of 138 Tackles last season in pass protection. A rating of 58. Lane Johnson for example didn't give up a single sack and had a rating 88. Steele's running blocking grade was 15th. His breakout season was pretty much the same, a top 10 run blocker and a bottom half pass protector.
You can protect a Tackle with a TE chipping or staying in to block, but that affects the entire offense, especially with a LT in his developmental stage.
And I may be mistaken, but I thought I saw a video of Parsons beating Lane Johnson for a sack last year. He had 2 sack the first time the two teams met in 2024. Maybe it was 2023?
