Buccaneers | Gates charged with assaulting pregnant woman
Fri, 30 Mar 2007 11:14:30 -0700

The Associated Press reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Lionel Gates was arrested and charged with hitting a pregnant woman in the face and pushing her into a wall during an argument. Gates was being held Friday, March 30, with no bond, jail records said. Gates was charged with burglary of a dwelling, aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and criminal mischief after he kicked in the front door of Peggie Lavender's apartment Thursday, March 29, and destroyed two televisions and two doors. Gates also put a hole in the bedroom wall and assaulted her, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office report.

This is just another reason why some of us feel character is an issue when looking at a player

not too keep beating a dead drum... but this is an other reason we should be thanking bill parcells for his importance on character... whens the last time a player on our team got in trouble with the law? because parcells hammered it in their head that if you get in trouble your gone.. he didnt care who it was.. every new cowboy should be told the story of keith davis before they ever put on a jersey... keith davis was shot and cut in the same week.. not omg i hope he ok.. no he was cut because he was in places he shouldnt have been.. i think t hat sent a big message to the whole team...

An other thing i hope that continues is that i hope rookies need to earn their stars.. thats something parcells started that i hope stays as tradition

However, he was released and then resigned sometime later on...

Of course I'm talking about the first time he got shot, and that is what BLT is probably trying to say...

FYI

Yeah, but it seems like less of a statement if he's still here. If BP cut him solely because he had been shot, bringing him back, and then keeping him on the team after he was shot the 2nd time, kind of nullifies the "statement."
