I love Crayton but I honestly think Hurd is the better WR. I like Crayton as a roamer slipping past defenders.

We need someone that can spread the field opposite TO and I think it is better suited for Hurd.

I think Hurd and Romo have good chemistry as well.

Thoughts?

At least I am not alone.

I honestly think we are going to see Hurd seperate himself from the others with TG out.

Crayton has proven himself at the NFL level, he has the best hands on the teams, and seems to always find an open spot in the coverage. Crayton deserves to start 100%

Crayton may be slow in molasses, but I LOVE Pat nonetheless.

He's an excellent possession receiver who runs those underneath routes effectively, and has GREAT hands.

You guys do remember that Hurd started last year in place of Glenn right and Crayton stayed at the #3 when TG was injured.....

That was Parcells and we have a new staff, but maybe they'll use the same reasoning.

That will get TO doubled and taken out of the game.

Exactly. All Crayton does is make plays. What has Hurd done to deserve to start over him? Nothing.

You are talking heresy.
The old folks around here don't cotton to new blood.
They love the regimentation and status quo until our young'uns tire and move on
hey! Cheer up, Hurd will get his time!!

The reasoning behind that was because Hurd was practicing behind Glenn and by switching Crayton, you not only moved him to an unfamiliar spot, you were also doing so with Hurd.

In a short term situation it made more sense to not screw up your entire offense just to keep the order intact.

In this case we pretty much went through all of training camp and preseason with Crayton running in the #2 and #1 spot.

I would like to see them keep Hurd outside and rotate Crayton and Owens in the slot when we go 3 wide.

I suspect we'll see plenty of 1 back, 2 WR, 2 TE sets with Witten lined up wide.

I think Sam will start at the Z spot in TG's absence. Crayton is invaluable where he is, especially with T.O. also taking snaps in the slot and being moved around more. T.O. and Patrick will be interchangeable while Hurd will be the constant. It will make life easier for the 2nd yr pro and is probably where he will be most comfortable and effective.

Albiet not coached by Parcells anymore , but remember him saying Crayton was the type he needs continues reps to be effective. For that reason leave him in his current position and start Hurd at 2 wr. Just send in a few more 3wr plays. make sense?

WR is the most over-rated and over-hyped position in football.

Crayton will do fine in place of Glenn, and if Owens goes down, Hurd will step in and we will be fine. WRs come out of the woodwork every year.

I'd start Hurd just because we would have less change with Crayton playing in the same spot and Hurd playing a position hes used to as well.

Also you can tell romo has confidence in him.

U do have a point here from looking at teams last year. But there is a handful that are superb with run after catch like T.O. steve Smith,etc....

if I'm not mistaken, the 2nd year is considered the breakout year for young WRs

Hurd is in his 2nd year

In fantasy football circles, it's usually the 3rd year WRs we look for, but it's not like there's a law that says first or second year WRs can't break out.

That said I don't care who starts. Glenn has been out the entire pre-season so it's not like the staff and players weren't preparing for the chance that he wouldn't be able to play. Glenn will definately be missed, because he's a hell of a WR, but I'm confident in Crayton and Hurd. I wouldn't expect a monumental drop in offensive production.
