Here in South Florida we are getting wind and rain and expect the worst tonite. But no hurricane.

Maybe they'll make damn sure all barges are secured and away from levees.

So far, no mandatory evacuation for the New Orleans area. Lower lying areas will evacuate beginning tomorrow morning.

I would bet you dollars to donuts that this thing makes landfall between Lafayette and Lake Charles. It is very reminiscent of Hurricane Rita.

Oddly enough, this Wednesday makes seven years ago to the day that Katrina made landfall in Louisiana.

Hope it continues to trend west, makes landfall somewhere in a relatively upopulated Texas area, and then stays west to drench the parts of TX, OK, and AR that are still in a terrible drought.

Looks like a portion of the storm has broken away and is just hangin over the east coast of Florida. Areas of Palm Beach County have gotten 8-15" already with major flooding in many areas. More rain is expected tonite.

If you live in its path just be prepared. We got way more than advertised/expected.
