Any tips from you guys on how to get ready and what supplies to make sure to have on hand? I live in an apt, so I guess that cuts the list down some.
In ice, I hope. Lots of good advice in this thread. I've experienced a couple of em. Getting through the storm is just the beginning. Survival until you can get utilities going and fresh food & water can be tough if you are not prepared.TheCount;4067931 said:Haven't been through a hurricane since I was about 13 and living in Austin, but looks like we're gonna get at least some heavy heavy rain.

Thanks!
Oh, and I've got the beer covered.

said some have predicted it a catastrophic category 4 and it's barely a category 2, may be a high category 1.
said the storm is weakening and there is no eye left, pressure is rising.

I'm not sure I'd want an assignment taking me to a city with Devils in the name to cover a potentially deadly natural disaster.

So did AT&T's marketing dept. when they made them.casmith07;4069042 said:My mom calls them "princess phones." :laugh2:

Flooding, water main breaks, etc; can cause water to become a hot commodity. Bath tubs hold a lot of water. Like others have said, fill up large containers and put as many in your fridge and freezer.
Charge everything you can that runs on electricity. Buy batteries. Fuel up your vehicle if you own one. Have cash on hand.
I love my little Honda generator in these situations.

A lot of folks are hauling their boats out but it is surprising how many aren't. They either don't remember or weren't here for the last one that followed this course...
tomson75;4069189 said:Ugh...I hope so. My parentals left camp open for my wife and I to get up there in September. My little fishing boat is just pulled up on the rocks and anchored. I'm fairly concerned it wont' be there when I get there.
Our camp is some 90 years old...I'm expecting some damage. The roof isn't exactly leak proof these days, either. I'll have to have someone go check on it next week. Crossing my fingers.
Hope you guys catch a break from this one....you've had your fair share of rain and flooding already this year.
