Pick 19 is coming up. Baker Mayfield/Josh Allen is doing their best Aaron Rodgers free fall impression and the phone starts ringing as you’re announced on the clock. Buffalo is calling, they went defense with their pick at 12, and now they want to move up from 22 to get the qb (I gave you options because I am a Josh allen guy but I know most people here love Mayfield. Either could fall, but probably not both together.)

These are the trades they give you:

1. Their 22nd pick and their third round pick to go to 19. They’re going qb, so it leaves only 2 other teams to poach the guy you were otherwise looking at.

2. Their 2nd round pick straight up for Dak. You take the qb at 19 and they go in a different direction at 22.

Which one do you consider? Or do you pass on both?

If your guy is not there then you trade back but you hold them for more than a 3rd since it is a qb which is hot commodity that the Bills desperately need.

I would draft Baker Mayfield, trade Dak for the 2nd rd pick and feel like I won the draft.

Baker Mayfield, 2 2nd rd picks(starting Guard and LB) a 3rd, 2 4ths, a 5th and several 6ths to trade up with to get our guys.

Win!

At first I was thinking 1 and didn't think it was close. But if Baker was there at 19 and I could get a 2nd for Dak. I'd be very tempted to do it. Now if it was their 22 and their 2nd rounder. You probably have to do it and bet on Dak.

I also think Baker is the 2nd best QB in this class after Donald and a better prospect than Dak. But we've at least seen Dak have success in the NFL so that weighs heavily on my mind. And i'm not a Dak fan.

Two very unlikely scenarios, but ill play, I'll take option 1.
realistically though you might have a similar situation if Lamar Jackson sitting there at 19.

Yes but the hypothetical is the forbidden fruit of a potential top 5 qb being available at 19. Is that enough to trade away the best 2 year qb in cowboys history

To me it come down to do you feel Mayfield or Allen is a true franchise QB. And do you feel Dak is?

Like you I feel that Mayfield is a better prospect than Dak. In this scenario you pull the trigger on taking Mayfield and trading Dak for 3 reasons.

1) You now have what you feel is a supirior QB prospect and a player you feel can be a true franchise QB.

2) It resets the timer on how long you have your starting QB on a rookie deal. It also adds the 5th year option

3) You are still able to get a premium draft choice for Dak. Personally I think you could get a 2019 #1 if you waited until after the draft. But for the sake of this exercise a 2nd rounder in this draft still nets you a quality starter

I would draft Mayfield then create a 2 QB system....... That would show the rest of the league

Always draft a what you consider to be a franchise QB, even if you think you already have one (I dont). No position more valuable in sports or worth more on the trade market.

Option 2 and its not even close
I want more. I want 22 and 54 even gor Dak. The guy still has a 3-1 td to into ratio with his struggles last season . With a coach who is willing to work with him and his strengths and weaknesses. Nah I am not giving them help to stay in the playoffs with Dak. I am not gung ho about Dak but I don't think he's nearly as good or bad as people on the boards make him out to be.

You have to take it or leave it as the exercise put forward. If you wanted more for Dak, the other team says no and you’re stuck with him. Is this your decision?

Do everything in your power to land Rosen or Allen.

If for some bizarre reason Allen falls to 19, run up there as fast as you can.

Too much upside to pass on him in my opinion. Besides the arm, he scored 37 on the Wonderlic and from what I read, he was very good on the board as well.

Draft a qb if you think he is the real future.
Only for a second or thirth and fourth.

I am fine with that and taking option one. Doubling down in the third.
