Imagine, if you will, a world where only former Dallas Cowboy players could coach on the staff. You could keep Garrett or simply show him the door. The only condition is can they coach, can they inspire players to greatness. Would Jerry Jones be so impressed with the staff that he hire a former player as a GM?

Who would you hire for some or all of the coaching positions? Why would you hire them? Are there any former players worthy of being hired? Let's make it interesting. They have to be alive, under 65 years old and no longer playing in the league.

Head Coach --

Offensive Coaches
  • Offensive Coordinator --
  • Quarterbacks –
  • Running Backs –
  • Wide Receivers –
  • Assistant Wide Receivers –
  • Tight Ends –
  • Offensive Line –
  • Senior Offensive Assistant –
  • Assistant Offensive Line –
Defensive Coaches
  • Defensive Coordinator –
  • Defensive Tackles –
  • Defensive Ends –
  • Passing Game Coordinator/Linebackers –
  • Secondary –
  • Safeties –
  • Defensive Assistant –
Special Teams Coaches
  • Special Teams Coordinator –
  • Assistant Special Teams –
Strength and Conditioning
  • Strength and Conditioning –

Oh man, some very poor candidates will emerge at several spots. Most former players that would've made good coaches are already coaching.

The player, past or present, that has all the tools to be an elite coach though is Romo. Lee is second.

I truly believe Lee will be a coach in the league and very successful. Not too sure about Romo. I can see him in broadcasting.

I like the idea of Bill Bates. Whatever happened to Kelvin Martin? Or Kenny Gant?

Witten reminds me of Forrest Gregg..touch guy, smart, etc. However, would he really want to coach? It would be great to get someone like him in the fold. But alas...he's still playing...

The only thing I can say for certain is that I would hire Darren Woodson in some capacity.

Under the circumstance, shouldn't Stepnoski be coaching the defensive line :)

Charlie played ball against me and I know his brother. I didn't remember he was over 65 though.
