Purely hypothetical question because the Browns wouldn't do it. Also a roster question, so we will have to see if it stays in fanzone.

You are pulling the strings for the Cowboys. If you were able to resign your own CBs, one safety, and TWilliams in free agency, basically running out a very similar team to last year's, would you then pull a Ditka if the opportunity was there and trade your entire draft for the #1 and Miles Garrett?

For Miles and the #1 pick? That's like the first two picks in the draft. Yes I would do that.

You would have to trade some of next years draft picks as well given our draft position this year. Not gonna happen.

I'd rather give up next year's #1 in the process rather than giving up one entire year's worth of picks, if that's one of the options.

Nope too many holes to give up the first pick and the chance to draft a future stud who may play in 2019.

#1 for our 1st 2nd Romo and Free? That might be doable. Of course Leary would have to be resigned...

I think your answer was in the statement, "would you then pull a Ditka"

No.

There's no guarantee that Miles Garrett will be that good. Hell, Ricky Williams certainly wasn't worth that. And again...defensive players are MORE THAN TWICE AS LIKELY TO GET INJURED THAN OFFENSIVE PLAYERS. As stupid as it is to trade up for a Ricky Williams, it's real stupid to trade up for a defensive player.

The only position that makes that trade somewhat plausible is at QB. If you have a once in a generation QB prospect and if you have a team in place that can support that QB prospect for the next 2-3 years. And chances are that the teams at that draft position aren't trading it anyway.

The NFL, particularly on defense, is about depth. More depth means more quality play and means more wins.

No. I just don't feel we're one player away, even him. And what happens if he gets injured? We have squandered all our depth on one player.
This draft offers us the ability to get younger in the secondary, on the defensive line and get a successor to Witten in a deep draft for tight ends.
Garrett is good, but he can't do it by himself.

4.5 of his 8.5 sacks this year were versus UT San Antonio
