Call me crazy, but it makes sense.
Has a team ever moved up in the draft and then traded down instead of using that pick? (*regardless of if it was done pre-draft, or during the draft)
Example: Berry drops for some reason, we trade up to 12, to make teams think we want Berry, and then swap places with a team a few picks after that covet him?
In other words ( Hypothetically)
Dallas trades our #27 pick, a 3rd next year, and 4th this year for the 12th pick
And then immediately trades the 12th pick to a team that covets Berry with say pick 16 or 17 and gain back a 4th round pick or so.
So we'd basically move from 27 to 12, then from 12 to 16-17( so move up 10 spots or so, and only lose a 3rd next year).
Has something like that ever happened, whether it be on a smaller degree or not?
In this scenario we could move up 10 spots with only losing a 3rd round pick and get Iupati,McClain, Thomas. Sounds like a dream come true, although maybe just a dream. I was more or less just curious if it has ever happened.
