Its Friday at work, and I'm about to interview for 5 hours so here we go:

If Martin and Lawrence both maintained last year's level of play for say the next 5 years, and you could only pay one the same contract, who would you pay and why?

Thought it would be a fun exercise.

martin, hes got that spot anchored for years. he came out good, didnt need 3 years, his line is harder to fix as we saw. we arent a team that appreciates sacks anyway. if Lawernce were to get to many in a game Garrett would sit him for hurting the other qb.

Read the question throughly.

If you can guarantee Lawrence is getting 75 sacks over the next 5 years, he is worth way more than any all pro guard.

ok, so you get your sacks but the team can still win, or can easily double him. Martin imposes his will and allows for our top flight running back to do his thing. Touchdowns vs sacks? we have seen the sacks get wasted because a qb can throw on our D, Tds arent as wasted.

Which do you want. do you still fight hard for the 30 cents that cost you the dollar or do you go wtih the 30 cents that is pure profit.

Changing up the players has to be considered too as we saw what happens to an o line once one player is removed. we have lived without sacks. in fact give me the interception over the sack, at least you get the ball. i have seen what mcnabb and others have done on 3rd and long.

20 sack seasons are elite.............15 sack seasons are really good but he has only had one double digit year so far

Paying elite money for one year of good production is scary

ZMartin has been a force every year

I don't need 15 sacks, 12-13 a year would be great with QB pressures and forced fumbles. You have to pay YOUNG PREMIERE pass rushers. Lawrence is just getting started honestly.

LOL

Martin is a yearly probowl/all-pro. He is, without a doubt, a top 3 at his position in the league. I can't believe anyone would take Lawrence over Martin.

This is a no-brainer. Goodbye, Lawrence.

75 sacks over five years with DLaw....fine, but how many rushing yards are we getting running directly by Martin in that span? I'm going with Martin....he's the best Guard in the league IMO.

To me, the obvious choice is Martin. A good and consistent O-Line, as we saw in 2016, leads to ball control, and ball control, leads to the other teams offense sitting on the sidelines.

The hypothetically is with Lawrence keeping up this level of play from the past season. Theres no way you pass up a consistent 15 sack DE

Give me Martin with a first round TKO. Lawrence has a bad back and I think Martin will expose that with ground and pound

I sure hope we do not have to make a choice. The Cowboys should be able to find a way to sign both of these players to contracts unless they go nuts and give someone like Cousins $100,000,000 or so. I would sign both of them even if I had to force Whitten into retirement. Of course Dez probably would need to redo his contract. If he is not agreeable to that then he too should no longer be a Cowboy.

It would be easier to replace Martin than DLaw so my answer is Lawrence and spend #19 on the best OG in the draft.
