Hypothetical Mike Jenkins trade scenario... Would you?

Minnesota calls up. Last year their pass defense was abysmal, worse than ours, and will need a true #1 CB to deal with Stafford/Megatron and Rodgers/Jennings.

Enter Mike Jenkins. A young, proven, pro-bowl caliber CB capable of being that guy.

They offer Percy Harvin, knowing full well that when his contract is up after the 2013 season, they couldn't afford to pay him.

He's a young, talented dynamic player that could fill in our need at #3 WR and PR/KR.

I do it. I want to win now.

What say you?

Without consistent pressure, we need all the corners we can get. So, no.

No, wrs are a dime a dozen while cbs are extremely valuable. He's a good player but never deserved the hype he got and I also believe that he was a guy that the Cowboys took off their board entirely because of off the field questions. Just not a Jason Garrett kind of guy.

It's comparable value. I value the CB position more than the WR position, so I don't do it. Unless we really get our socks knocked off by one of the young CBs we think can play significant snaps this year. I don't think that will happen, though. At best, the young guys can compete for dime snaps next season.

Harvin, though, is a dang good player, and he'd be a utility knife in Garrett's offense. We could do a lot with him.

Talk about two peas in a pod. Both young and talented but maybe unreliable physically. Both looking to get paid at year end. I could see the WR being more affordable.

That's a tough one.

Harvin is a talented receiver, no doubt, but he's a migraine waiting to happen, and we really do need all the CBs we can get. Also, didn't he test positive for pot at the combine? Not exactly Garrett's kind of guy, is he?

I'm leaning towards no.

Our #3 right now is Ogletree so can't say it's not that tempting but honstly i'd rather just keep Jenkins, I personally think (2010 aside) when healthy he's better then Carr

Not only does he have an extra year on his contract, Percy Harvin is one of the few dynamic players that can take it to the house on any play. I dont think there is any other WR in the league better after the catch. If put in a better situation his stats would dramatically rise. He can also be used effectively as a RB taking some carries a game... Harvin is looking at a mega contract if the migraine issue is truly behind him like what he said.

The Vikings have signed/drafted some CBs and are weak at WRs. I don't think the Vikings would ever offer such a deal, but the Cowboys wouldn't hesitate to take it...

I wouldn't even hesitate. Percy is a terrific player.. a difference maker an X factor. He is also great at kick /punt returns. Way mentally tougher than Jenkins too.

Can you imagine Dez, Miles, and Percy? That would be so sick!

If (when?) we had an injury to any of out other 3 CBs though, we would be hurting for sure.

Headache issues aside, didn't Dallas put Harvin "in the box" when he was in the draft a few years back?

Either way, the migraines are enough to make me say no.

No, I wouldn't trade him for a WR, I would love to get a premier Center for Jenkins or a Pro-Bowl lineman

Yeah, that simple isn't going to happen. Jenkins isn't worth a probowl linemen. He is worth "maybe" a 4th round draft pick.

No I rather trade Jenkins for a third round pick then take on a guy who has bad migraines and career may be over soon

I don't know, I remember this type of talk before the Roy W trade.
We basically have 5 weapons in Miles, Dez, Wit, Murray and Felix...do we really NEED another one....

IMO no, what we need is help in the trenches.

If it's not an Elite Pass Rusher...or pile moving Lineman.....or Megatron or a 1st or 2nd

Than No.....

Percy is one of my favorite players in the league and has been a play-maker in Minny for a few years now. Last year with below average QB play, Percy had 87 receptions for 967 yards and 6 TDs along with 345 rushing yards and 2 TD's. He is an excellent returner and a stud athlete. I make the trade and laugh because Dallas would have just stole what I believe is a Top 10 WR in this league. Yes, I think he is that good.

I say yes.

But I probably try to peddle Brandon Carr to them as well while I have them on the phone.
