That would be such a harsh and dramatic transition. I think if something like that happened i would be a mess. When the Oilers left and became the Titans, i still felt connected to them. Can you imagine if the Cowboys and Commanders switched entire rosters? I think id fall into a coma.

I would always root for the Cowboys. There are other teams in the league that I like and other players as well, but they don't come before my Cowboys. They don't even have to be former Cowboys players. I like Tiki Barber and I liked Darrell Green, among others.

It is the team I root for, whether all the current players leave or not.

Edit: What would be your answer if the Commanders and the Titans traded places? I assume it would be the same as most here have answered.

Interesting question. Myself, I root for the Star :starspin players come and go. I would follow some of our former players, but after awhile, would move on.

Question for you. How did your question/poll turn out on your team's board?

Another spin.

The Cowboys pull up stakes as Jones decides to move to Los Angeles and takes everything with him.

A new team comes to Dallas. Different name. Different everything.

Your choice?

Looks like I'm a Los Angeles Cowboys fan.

I don't live in Dallas.

I would feel betrayed by Jones and would probably never root for HIS team again.

Living in Dallas, I would tend to pull for the hometown team.

Since I don't live in Texas I would probably still follow the cowboys and not be so upset that I would drop the team.

I don't see any way I would stop watching them and start watching the team that came into the town.

I guess this is that whole Browns/Ravens or Oilers/Titans/Texans scenario.

But I guess I could see people being REALLY upset if they lived in Texas or in the area where they could go to the games. I could understand those people getting so mad they would not watch or cheer for the cowboys again.

Yeah. Living there would be a whole different game - and you would hate Jones.

I'd just follow the uniform.

I am loyal to the Cowboys. if a player leaves, who I like/ed, then I still someone watch them and root for them to do well, but I don't see the same way I did before.

The same goes for college. I follow any former Longhorn players as much as I can. I will follow the Titans whenever I can to see Vince Young.

The only ones I don't /won't follow are the ones who go to the skins or Eagles.

I root for the Cowboys. I had someone on the team that I consider a friend. He lost his job when we drafted a guy who is a stud at the position. I was fine with that.

Right now, I'd say Demarcus Ware is my favorite player on the team. Down the road if he ends up gone to some other team, my loyalty to him ends. I'll still like him, but no loyalty.

It was that way with Emmitt, who is one of my 2 favorite players ever.

Wow, sounds like an "Un-Lucky" break for your buddy...Whats he up to these days anyhow ?

This is something I posted on the Skins board awhile back. I thought it would be interesting to gauge the responses of Cowboys fans as well.

___

This is something I've been contemplating for awhile now...but I haven't been able to put it into words. Truth be told, I know the answer, but thinking about it is a lot of fun.

Do you root for the Cowboys, or do you root based on the relationships the players form with one another and with the fans.

That is the question which I wish to dissect. Listen to this absolutely, positively hypothetical situation: Imagine, by some freak accident, some loophole, natural disaster, or scandal, that the Cowboys swapped their entire personel (front office, players, coaches, sponsors et cetera.) with another team. For the sake of neutrality we'll say everything is swapped with the Tennessee Titans.

The Titans now have Marion Barber, Julius Jones, Drew Bledoe, Roy Williams, Terrell Owens, Aaron Glenn, Bill Parcells, Jerry Jones, Bobby Carpenter et cetera. What was once the Cowboys, is now the Titans. The Cowboys have Vince Young...and that's the only player I can think of that's on the Titans at the moment- but you get the point.

Of course you're going to root for the Silver and Blue, with this decision being compromised under no conditions...but if this were to happen, would you feel obliged to root for the hypothetical Titans?

I feel that more elaboration is needed. You love to watch your Cowboys performing as a team...Demarcus Ware pressuring an opposing QB to the outside, only to have him run into Akin Ayodele (even though he hasn't played a down in Blue yet). Roy Williams benefitting from TNew's solid coverage, and picking off McNabb to win the game. Watching the chemistry between T.O and Bledsoe beginning to unfold. Sorry, I'm a Commanders fan, so I'm not too keen on the Cowboy's relationships, but you should get the gist by now.

What if all these relationships remained in tact, but they were moved under another team name. Would it be difficult to simply sever the ties we've made with these players?

Note: Please spare the "dude, what are the thinking! this could never happen! ban him" comments, for you are merely stating the obvious.

That Tennessee roster would be easy to root for if they were Cowboys. Besides Vince, they have Lendale White and Jonathan Orr, a speedy wideout, that would be a great set of triplets. The current Cowboy roster has achieved nothing of note yet. Just not having Bledsoe on my team would be enough to cheer for.

And they got Vince Young, right?

This would be a particularly tough situation for me to handle. I'm only 18 years old, and this past season has been the best that I've ever experienced (of course the Skins have won it all in my lifetime, but I was simply too young to care). Due to this, I've become very attached to this Gibbs' Second Era team.

I would, still root for the Washington Commanders. With every game the hypothetical Titans won, however, that pit in my stomach would grow.

As sad as it is, I follow the star. Through thick and thin. When Emmitt went to the Cards, I cheered for him. I also cheered when Roy knocked the crap out of him. Just the nature of the game and the beast.

"A great set of triplets?" Your inconsistency is laughable. Those three guys you named from the Titans have "achieved nothing of note yet." In fact, none of them have even played a down in the NFL. Orr was a sixth rounder and Lindale White should be thanking his lucky stars he was drafted where he was.

AThis kind of happenend in the strike year and as hard as it was I still watched and routed for the Cowboys....
Players ,coaches and owners come and go but unless you are the Oilers, Browns and ajust a few more , the teams will most always be there.
