Let’s say the NFL decides to hold a fantasy draft of all the current NFL players, with 2 caveats:
1. You can keep 5 of your current players.
2. Once released, you cannot draft back any of the remaining 48 players.

The first question is, what 5 players do you keep?

The second question is, what players from other NFL teams are you targeting in the early rounds of the fantasy draft?

Is this like for Fantasy Football or are you drafting a team to win in the actual NFL?

I think he means in the actual NFL.

I'd keep:

Dez Bryant
Tyron Smith
Travis Frederick
Sean Lee
Tony Romo

With the exception of Romo I went for young talented players that can be around for years to come and form a solid core. I kept Romo because it is very hard to find even a decent quarterback.
It's hard to say who I would target off of other teams since I imagine most of the guys that I say would be among their 5 guys.

It's also possible I forgot someone. In which case I reserve the right to change this list.

1)Dez
2)Lee
3)Smith
4)Frederick
5)Romo

Then with the first round draft pick I'd select Bill Bellicheck, super bowl here we come!

You mean you aren't keeping Beasley?

I thought of this hypothetical scenario because it occurred to me, now more than ever, I am more of a fan of the Dallas Cowboys uniform that I am of the actual players.

My five:

Sean Lee
Bruce Carter
Travis Frederick
Tyron Smith
Dez Bryant

That list was very difficult for me to put together, because I'm not even sure I'd want to keep 5 players from this team, Tyron Smith being the lone exception. Dez Bryant is too inconsistent. Travis Frederick, while he looks like a solid piece for years to come, there are obvious physical limitation for him as a player. Bruce Carter and Sean Lee look to be great players and leaders, if only we could keep them healthy.

1) Dez
2)Lee
3) Tyron
4) Frederick
5) Dwayne Harris

1st Round draft pick
Andrew Luck

Coaches
HC: Sean Payton
DC: Rex Ryan

-Bryant
-Lee-
-Tyron
-Romo
- Harris

The only reason I keep Romo is because the QB's that are better than him will also be kept, also I didn't even think about Harris until the previous player posted him, he's one of the best at what he does so it makes sense to keep him, I also kicked around Carr as a keeper. Draft position would also play a part in who you kept, You might not keep Romo if you drafted first, but I think you still keep him because the best QB available in the first still won;t be as good as him since anyone better is being kept.

The second part of this question is difficult considering who you would be looking at would likely be the players kept, however, let's say we are in the stage before we know who is being kept. Who are you at least putting on your draft board?

For that reason, I seriously considered keeping Romo. But I just couldn't do it. On this, I take the gamble, however, I likely would be pulling my QB out of the first round to try and avoid that one biting me.

Why wouldn't the Colts keep Luck?

My 5...

Lee, Bryant, Romo, T. Smith, Carr

Build the trenches after that.

Granted, these players may be retained as part of the 5, but I would still be looking for them just in case.

Eric Berry
Derek Cox
Demond Trufant
Earl Thomas
Dontari Poe
Jerry Hughes
LeSean McCoy
Mike Wallace
Darius Heyward Bey
Robert Griffin III
Ray Rice
Von Miller
Patrick Peterson
Kevin Zeitler
Nate Solder
Andrew Luck
To name a few….

I keep:
1) Bryant
2) Smith
3) Frederick
4) Lee
5) Ware

I am targeting to start the draft:

1) Megatron
2) AP
3) Luck
4) Darrelle Revis
5) Rob Gronkowski

Dez
Lee
Tyron
Fred
Esco

I'm taking the best young QB in the first round. After that, stocking up on pass rushers. Everything else will take care of itself.
