I don’t care if Rush or Dak or the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man plays QB for the Cowboys as long as they win meaningful games in January and February. I am only okay with paying one the “going rate” if the QB in question is continually (3 out of four games) putting up high passing TD’s(2+)/yards (250+)/1st down passing conversion rates/total offensive scoring (24.5+ excluding defense/special teams scores)/low turnovers with good distribution of stats throughout all 4 quarters and against top 5 defenses along with other defenses. UNLESS, the team with whichever QB is routinely (2 out of 3 years) winning playoff games or winning the SB (with outstanding stats that year).

Rush has to keep this going if he would like to start for an NFL team. He gets a chance vs the defending champions and then the only current undefeated team (unless Dak is inserted in the lineup). Cross the bridges in front of you and just try to keep winning-all you can do. Gooooo Cowboys!

The more likely in Rush's case is to hope for a Nick Foles type luck streak and the rest of the team playing good enough to advance against playoff level competition.

Weve all seen the results of the other guy in the playoffs and I don't think his past history lack of playoff success will change much if he returns and stays as the starter.

If the play calling stays the same when Dak comes back.

If the defense can figure out a way to stop the run.

If we can stay healthy for the rest of the season.

If we can keep our mistakes to a minimum and capitalize on our opponents mistakes.

Then we can quite the show me crowd... myself included.

I am with you but not just about the QBs. I feel the same way about the defense, and every other player who comes in with a good reputation. College stats be damned. Show me against top NFL talent.

Not really. They can play very well and still lose. But then go on a win streak after that. They can be at 3-3, and end up 11-6 or 12-5 very easily.
Last year Dallas was 3-5 against playoff teams, two of those wins were against Philly, who had 10 players on the covid list the first game they played and the Eagles rested their starters the last game because they couldn't change their playoff standing....so it is important to tell you whether your team is a contender or pretender, I don't care what overall record is when you beat up on doormat teams like the Giants and Washington.....

He is a backup that’s playing well.

No one is going to offer him some large deal to be a starter. If somehow they do, he is gone. Is what it is.

It’ll come down to the Eagles games and tiebreakers if we split.

The Rams on the road would be a nice feather in our cap, but next weeks game is monumentally important within the standings.

A MUST win? No, but if you don’t win the division and still make the playoffs, you’ll need to win THREE road playoff games in row just to GET to the SB.

They haven’t won a road playoff game since the 92 season, and astonishingly have only nine road playoff wins in the history of the franchise, and two in one season only once.

Gotta win the division for any real shot. In order to do that, need to beat the Eagles. Probably twice.

The next two games against the Rams and the Eagles is going to tell us whether the Cowboys are contenders or just pretenders......

Im not so sure about that. The Rams have gotten destroyed twice already and the Eagles have beaten garbage and got destroyed by the dolphins so beating either or both still leaves doubt.

some of us thought we knew our own team to be contenders after the first 7 games last season.

the Broncos revealed exactly what our team was and that was week 9

Newsflash......the next 2 games we're using our backup QB. These 2 games may have ZERO input on our further success this year. Its pretty unfair to paint the whole team "pretenders" because we may lose to 2 elite opponents on the road with our backup QB

Are they elite opponents? Or just elite in the eyes of Cowboys naysayer fans?

Rams have looked vulnerable this year so far. And are the Eagles as good as they seem to be against less competition.
As our own fans said for years, we haven't played any real competition yet. So if they use that against, use it for opponents as well.

Now we could go out and lay eggs the next 2 games, or we could show we are for real. Or somewhere in between most likely.

Maybe elite is a stretch, but certainly 2 teams we will have to deal with if playoff success is our goal. I do agree that our fanbase will go cuckoo if we sweep these 2 games or be on suicide watches should we lose both. It will probably be somewhere in between.

So far...

Dallas has lost to what now is a 2-2 in TB team. Beat last years SB team Bengals, who are now 2-2, and really should be 3-1, Beat a 3-1 NYG, and 1-3 Washington

Philly has beat 1-3 Detroit game, and almost lost it, probably should have, beat a 3-1 Vikings team, made them look bad actually. Which themselves have beat 1-3 teams, except GB, Eagles beat a 1-3 Washington team missing 4 defensive starters, 2 being both DE's. And it took 5 Jaguars turnovers 3 or 4 inside their own 30 and are at 2-2

Rams, Lost to an inspired very good Buffalo team, beat Atlanta, Arizona, both now at 2-2, and could have lost those games, then got beat up by SF.

Now what does this mean, probably nothing. But I think Dallas should get a little more credit then they are getting.

The Chiefs and the 49's were 2-3, after five games last season.

This a young team, still developing, it will look much different when things begin to settle out and the last of the pumpkin pie is gone. One way or the other.

Ok. Since you are in the "show me in January and February" group, does that mean you will disappear and not appear until January or February? :p:D

The last two times I saw Dak play in a real game he did poo poo in his pants and one of the games was a playoff game.

Yeah, the next time someone throws shade on Cooper that "well he is only doing what a backup is supposed to do".....we would also like to see from Dak, "what a starter getting $40m is supposed to do".... you can't argue both ways. Stick to one. So far, he ain't worth it.
