I’m reading this draft is deep on the OL

Dallas could rebuild the OL with a couple picks. I say do it. I’m tempted to say OT then OG/C, but give me two starting OL and I’m happy with the draft and it’s looking out for the future.

I think it is pretty deep. We should think about developing talent behind Smith and Collins. Not holding my breath on Steele and Knight.

Left tackle is a concern.

Steele or Collins can't do it.

Martin probably could make the switch but I doubt that happens.

Knight is who you want as a swing tackle, not your starting LT.

I expect one of the 3rds to be used on a capable one that can take over in two or so years.

I was thinking the same thing. WR and OL appear to be two positions where players can be found after the 1st round. I still believe in upgrading wherever the opportunity presents itself, but what position on defense could not use and upgrade?

Fisher basically said yesterday, via his sources, both Tyron/Collins are expected to be healthy starters next season. This eases some concerns, where taking a future starter rather then more of an immediate starter seems like the best coarse of action. Good depth at Tackle, will allow them to take one somewhere within the first 4 rounds.

Tyron Smith also said heading into last season that it was the best he had felt in years.

If Tyron can still play at a high level, just misses his usual 4 games and is on a team friendly contract, there is no reason to try to replace him. Sure, they have to start developing a future starter at the position, but unless a quality prospect falls to them early, they can fill sometime day 2 or early day 3.

Yep. That is what I am thinking. If Smith and Collins are expected to be healthy, we can get guys with comp 3 and later to sit for a year or two and play swing tackle and be ready when Smith is ready to call it a career.
Can still get D with the first three.

That certainly looks like the best way to address the position and have a plan in place for the future.

Must admit, I was impressed by a few OL. I have no problems using comp pick on OL, for I'm all about the trenches.

Even with a deep OL draft class, I would still take Sewell at 10.

100%.... 12 or more high-level games a year from him a year is a no-brainer.

Tuinei was 35 years old in 1995
Newton was 34 years old in 1995

Tyron Smith (30 years old) is in wayyy better shape than either of those guys.
I do fear him staying healthy but lets not close the door on Smith, he's still got the juice!
