Being shot in black and white in the age of technicolor really set that movie apart. Supposedly that was Spielberg's inspiration for Schindler's List's cinematography.

I actually got college credit for watching it in a Lit and Film class and reading the short story it was based on.

And Duck, You Sucker is the original title of Fistful of Dynamite. Probably the best of all the spaghetti westerns. I prefer the Morricone score in it much more than the better know G, B, and Ugly.

Gotta order the Western channel. Sunday ticket and it are the only reasons to have Directv, well them and NFLN and BTN so get DTV and Encore Westerns.

Another little factoid regarding Winchester 73. It is considered the primary movie responsible for the escalation of actor's salaries. Stewart was the first to ask for a substantial share of the gross ticket revenue - and after the success of Winchester 73, made a killing from it.

From then on, that became a staple in contract negotiations for bigtime actors.

Btw, Duck You Sucker sounds like an exploitation movie from the 70s. :laugh2:

My area doesn't get it right now, though we might soon.

Okay, if anyone gets this one I will be impressed.

Nice horse. What's his name?
You don't put a name on something you might have to eat.

...and...

Don't turn your back on me, mister!
Don't let your mouth overload your hardware, cowboy.

AAAAGGGGHHHH

It's a movie about a young guy getting on a cattle drive, the only thing that's popping into my head is Cowboy with Jack Lemmon and Glenn Ford but that's not it. It's newer than that.

Give me a little bit to think about it.

You are on the right track.

My favorite from the movie you metion is this one.

How's the arm, Charlie?
All right, boss. It's my drinking arm, not my loving arm.

Did this one stump everyone? I thought Stanley was right on the verge of getting it. His clues are correct. Just not a movie with Glenn Ford and Jack Lemmon.

That's the one. How would you cheat?

Have you seen it? Very under rated movie.

No. Believe it or not I am not a huge western fan so there are probably hundreds I have not seen.

I just looked up one of those quotes on IMDB.

Well, crap. I never would have thought about quotes being searchable, but I've used that database dozens of times.

Duh.

When we did this with prison movies, we'd either describe something that happened or use quotes with a few words out of place to stop googling the exact quote.

And Culpepper Cattle Co. really "P"d me off. The first thing I thought of this morning was "darn, what was that film". If BP wouldn't have looked it up, I would have.

Duel at Diablo. An interesting film. Sidney Poitier, James Garner, Dennis Weaver.
