I have been watching this team since 1977. I was a 7 year old kid cheering for Dallas because my dad liked the Broncos and he said they were going to win easily. Ever since then I have faithfully watched.
This team right now is terrible. It really is. But it begins and ends with the lines - DL and OL.
First off I am not going to get into missed assignments, poor technique applied against down and distance, turnovers, horrible tackling, lack of game time adjustments, etc... those are beat to death
D-Line first. If you just watch the game and overview the line of scrimmage - just look at the overall movement - it isn't just that our team is getting blown off the ball backwards but they are getting blown back and moved to the side. This is creating huge holes. Couple that with zero inside pass rush - zero - and teams are going to walk up and down the field on this team. Single the tackles and slide help to the outside for Lawrence and Aldon. We have no chance like this. Moving forward we need to start bringing in some DT's to see how they stack up. I would release Poe and Crawford today. Bring in any prospects they can and let them play. Let our young guys play too from here on out.
O-Line. Look who we lost on the o-line. We didn't just lose some OK players we have lost some of the game's best.
Tyron Smith, L. Collins, Fredrick, Looney was solid as well, Zack out this game ....our most seasoned guy now is Connor Williams and by all accounts he was the weak link when we had all of our starters right? Washington has one of the best D Lines in the league and there was no time for the QB's to even get into their reads much today with the pressure. This is good experience for these young guys but they are not up to the task.
With parity in the NFL like it is, few teams are going to win in this league with no interior D-Line play and your O-Line missing 4 starters.
I have said this is the worst team that I have seen in Dallas. It might not actually be the worst team - the late Landry years, Campo, JJ's first year - but with the "perceived talent" most experts thought we had, that makes the really poor play and blow out losses seem so much more disappointing.
