On my way back to LA. My flight was to Phoenix, then to LA. I was supposed to depart 6 min ago. I will now be departing at 7PM. I will arrive in Phoenix @ 7:45 PM.

My flight from Phoenix to LA is at 7:25 PM. Obviously, that presents a problem.

I need to get to the front desk to talk to them about this issue, however, there is a line of about 30-40 people talking about connections. SO I am sitting here venting to you people.:

I'm not going to get to LA until about 1 AM I bet. Which will mean I have to pay another day for parking my car.

"Del?"

"Hmm?"

"Why did you kiss my ear?"

"Why are you holding my hand?"

"Where's your other hand?"

"Between two pillows."

It is better than having to spend the night at Atlanta Airport because of weather and not bringing enough money to get a hotel room because you did not expect it to happen.

The lady at the counter says...since it is weather related we can not give you a free room but we will give you x amount off of a room at insert name here hotel.

I said...well that is still more than I have on me...grumble grumble grumble growl growl.

OR another time...

I was in Louisiana. Tell them a need a ticket to Charleston WEST VIRGINA...even named the Chuck Yeager airport when requesting the ticket.

I get to my first connection (I Think stinking Atlanta again) before I realize that the ticket is for the Charleston in Carolina...ARGGGHHH!!!!

Then the guy gives me lip when I tell him the problem and I had to put the fear into him before he changed his attitude.

So I wind up having to pay more because the destination was further away and had to wait an additional 3 hours for the new flight.

I get home, my luggage went to the OTHER Charleston.

I explained the problem and they were saying ...well could you come back tomorrow and get it once it arrives here. At which point a hell no was issued and I said it will be delivered to my house by someone that works for your airline because you guys have screwed me over enough in 24hrs.

It was delivered later that evening...at my house.

Once I was on the planes I never minded it...it was the terminals and lay overs or lost luggage that always killed me.

However I would take a few hour layover compared to them having you land at an airport and giving you 10 minutes to get to the next gate...which would be all the way on the other side of an airport so you look like OJ Jumping over luggage trying to get to the next gate. That happened in Dallas/FTW airport. If it was not for that monorail system (pretty sure it was there) I doubt I would have made it.

Planes...Good...Airports...SUCK!!!

The last time I flew through Atl (from Charleston actually :D). We landed 10 mins before my connecting flight was to take off and of course I had to switch terminals. I made it too my flight only because the pilots were delayed. :D

Hey, if you want to get a full appreciation for how often airlines lose luggage these days, work the graveyard shift at a business-class hotel...

At least 2-3 times a week I get some airline flunky delivering bags for one of my guests, at 3 in the AM... I swear, I'm not exaggerating...

It does not shock me at all. I think my luggage has went to the wrong place at least three times.

That one I spoke about worried me the most as it had my guitar.

They delivered my luggage and the guitar and I noticed that the clasp that had the lock on the case was broken off. I told the guy when he delivered it that if the guitar is damaged in any way or missing they were going to buy me a new guitar.

But I guess the case was just hit along the way and only tore the latch off.

I was kind of hoping the guitar was gone that way I could charge them and get a better guitar.:laugh2:

But I still have the guitar and case to this day.

In two trips to Vegas, I've had something happen with my luggage. First trip on the way back, my luggage ended up in Dallas, even though we were supposed to be flying into San Antonio. But they didn't tell us that our flight had been canceled until we got to Phoenix to change plans. So we flew to Houston, arriving at some god awful hour, rented a car and drove to San Antonio, cuz that's where my truck was. And then we still had to wait for our stuff to arrive in San Antonio sometime the next day.

2nd trip, I took a shuttle to the hotel from the airport and someone took my suitcase by mistake. I got it back in about 4-5 hours.

When I was a kid and I would fly to see my pops, it seemed my luggage always got lost. But back then I thought it was cool to have lost luggage and have them deliver it back to me. Cuz I would use that as an excuse to talk them into taking me shopping while we waited. Just in case, ya know. :p:

Hoping for one of those special Martin Centennials that they only made for their employees?? IIRC, it was a limited edition version of the D-100... and IIRC, they're going for around 100 grand these days...

If they lose MY guitar, I'm gonna swear that's what it was... that, or one of the "tiger-stripe" Les Paul Sunbursts... I could live for ten years off of the money they go for...

I guess I've been really lucky, never have had my luggage lost by an airline... then again, I don't fly all that often, maybe a half dozen times in the last 25-30 years...

Well I could not go that far...considering the hardcase had Charvel molded into the case.

This is not my guitar but it was about the same just a different color...However that case is the exact same hard shell case.

So I would not be able to have told them to get me a fender or gibson.

But I would have gotten a San Dimas Charvel instead and those are not cheap.:D

Last Christmas my wife and I flew from NY to Dallas. We had a few connecting flights and despite being Dec. 23 in NY there were absolutely no problems. To top it off, our luggage was the first out of the line at DFW, something that's never happened to me before. We were out of the airport in five minutes.

On the return trip (New Year's Day) our connecting flights were delayed every time, and then when we finally arrived in NY six hours late we found out after another two hour wait that they lost our luggage. Of course, out of our three check-in bags the only one they lost had to be the one with all of our clothes in it. We eventually found it and delivered it to our door (at midnight on the following day).

If you are flying out of the country and your first stop is say, Schiphol Airport, and your layover is less than an hour, your luggage *will* be delayed. There just isn't enough time to transfer it.
