Really - 30 plus years of Cowboy love from my veins and I have no idea what is going on with this club or if the owner has a clue either.
I'm reading 800 INSIDER Scoops every 48 hours! who are these insiders!??
Norv is coming, only if he has his own GM, Norv loves Garrett, Norv wants Rivera and Singletary, Norv doesn't think JG is OC matrerial Norv wants TO he doesn't want TO - he wants his own GM , no he doesn't - Norv is not getting the job , Wade Phillips is, Ron Rivera failed his audition -Ron Rivera lands in Dallas on his sled after fighting thru the snow, but will not be interviewed for a DC job only wants HC but Norv wants him for DC if Norv is the HC and not 5 other guys ....:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
I hope the heck Jerry knows what's going on.

I gotta say this post made me laugh, if for no other reason than I completely understood your frustration.:D

This has been, from all outward appearances, a mangled process. It will be interesting to watch the outcome.

I don't think this is all that confusing as much as it is Jerry just not being able to pull the trigger.

I honestly believe that Jerry's guy is Jason Garrett. I'm betting that Jerry sees Jason Garrett as another one of these bright young offensive coaches with charisma who could do wonders with these weapons. I actually have no doubt that if this team was trying to start over, Garrett would already have the job.

But this team isn't starting over. This team is built to win right now. Jason Garrett has never called a play. He's never been in the position of leading an entire team before. That's a lot to throw on Garrett, and I'm betting that Jerry is reluctant to do that.

So Norv Turner and Wade Phillips were the obvious choices. Both of them were of the age where they could win now while grooming Garrett. The problem, I'm guessing, is that Jerry isn't entirely sold on either one of them.

For one thing, the next coach must be able to win. The coach must also be able to deal with a bright spotlight effectively. The coach must also have thick skin to not worry about Garrett. Phillips and Norv both lack a little in this regard.

So Jerry keeps looking...

Singletary was probably very impressive in his interview, but he's in the same boat as Garrett. He's never done this before, and that's an awful lot to ask. This is a big step up for these young coaches. So Jerry decides to keep looking, while still evaluating what he's already seen and heard.

Deep down, I think that Jerry knows that none of these candidates are perfect. I think Jerry is already on to thinking about trying to build the absolute best possible environment that he can for whoever the next coach is, and while he's doing that he can still be looking for someone to just completely blow him away.

So Rivera gets a shot. Heck, give Caldwell a shot too. See what happens.

But I think Jerry's wheels are turning. He's thinking, maybe Norv is the perfect fit since he knows me and this organization. He can train my young QB. He can make this offense soar. He can help develop Garrett. But he's still Norv Turner, and he hasn't won a lot. Besides, the defense was the bigger problem down the stretch. Maybe Rivera can come along and help fix this mess with Norv? That way, I get the best of both worlds. I get my two hot young coaches. I get Norv to baby-sit them without doing too much. This can work.

You can picture Jerry working this out exactly that way.

Of course, there may have been some kinks in the way. For instance, Mosely may have it right - Norv may not be as thrilled with Garrett as Jerry is. Will Jerry bite the bullet for "his" guy? "Will Rivera or Caldwell blow me away instead", he thinks? "Maybe I should re-evaluate one more time?"

So we wait...
