This season has given me such optimism and yet such heartbreak! I just hope we can beat Filthy on Sunday! Anyone else going through this?

where did the optimism come from? why cant parcells be testing the defense to see if it'll stack up and how the rookies do? the road to a young defense can be long and perilous...if you are looking for instant gratification you are possibly not on the right team than.

Parcells is doing a lot with this team and needs time...this is not xbox nor playstation....lets face it..im sure he didnt expect Beriault to already be out..and has possibly already made plans if Glenn goes down agian.

Sure there has been qustionable playcalling and signings..but mostly everything else could be going on as he wanted...

Yes, I know what you mean.

I was optimistic prior to the season with all of the changes that we made and this being Parcells 3rd season.

I made the comment prior to the season that we needed to start off good, to get the young and new guys clicking and on the same page.

I also felt it would be great if we could win a game that maybe we shouldn't to give the team early confidence.

Then we looked good on opening day and beat the Chargers !

Then I was cautiously optimistic after that game only to be heart-broken at the end of the Commanders game.

And now the Raiders game.

I have had to back off now, and not be so optimistic since we lost two games that we could have won.

You just can't lose games that you are capable of winning and still have a successful season.

There are some teams that are just better than us, so we can't lose to teams we could beat.

I think everybody WANTS to beat the Eagles, but let's be honest, the odds are stacked against us.

I haven't seen enough to convince me that we will beat the Eagles.

my take on the season

i was hopeful we would be SD, thought it would be a low scoring game and maybe our D could play well and get us a win. What happened was our offense played better than i thought they would (especially pasing game) and we won.

next week i was sure we would beat the Skins. well, the meltdown at the end was a shocker. enough already been said about that.

I thought our D would manhandle the 49ers, they put up a ton of points, looked like they were not in the game at all, poor preparation after monday night loss. offense made plenty of mistakes, we were lucky to win.

i thought the raiders would beat us cause i thought they would score 3 or 4 passing TD's on us. instead we held them to 1 TD, 4 FG's in their own stadium. and we had more pressure on collins than i thought the eagles did and they played in philly. so our Defense played better than i thought they would do on the road against a team desparate for a win. But our offense couldnt get it going. the fact that we had a chance to win at the end was cause bledsoe hit that bomb to glenn. so i think we were outplayed in that game but cause of that long pass oakland almost blew it.

so i see the cowboys as a team that is not really settled yet having ups and downs on both sides of the ball, and when your team is adjusting week to week, anything can happen, we could play well and beat a decent team or lose to a bad team. the team is still just a work in progress. talent is there so every week we are hopeful we can get a win, but their is still too many new faces and adjustments going on trying to experiment and find what works so we are going to blow some opportunities.

Yes, we made improvements. But other teams weren't standing still either. I think that's where fans miss when it comes to evaluating. Yes we had some wonderful free agents join us and we had a terrific draft. But young players take time and it take time to learn a new base defense. And then you have the situation of having all the new free agents fit in with their new team-mates. This isn't a process that comes to a conclusion overnight. It takes time. Fans that were expecting a 11-5 season were just blinded by love. And on top of everything else, regardless of all the great free agents we signed and the high potential of the players we drafted this team still had significant problems heading into the season. Problems bad enough to cost us wins... on top of our other challenges.

I am frustrated more by our offense. Our line is just not getting it done. Our defense will get it done eventually.
