I am still smiling

I can't help but wonder.... is this also how fans of the Dallas Cowboys felt in 1991-92? Is this what a Super Bowl-calibre team feels like?
Yes. It began before then when Jimmy and Jerry started building those teams. But you could not only see it, you could feel it. The best part is the rest of the league knew they really couldn't do anything about it.

The only things I just can't get past is RB and the DT situation.

I'm sure they'll address DT at some point prior to the season. RB is ambiguous at best but I doubt we hear any new names there barring the slight chance the AP trade materializes. But you're right, DT needs depth. I'm thinking we trade a player or a mid-round pick for one unless one of these camp guys impresses.

im not just a person who can look at the record and say "yea" dallas did that, we beat seattle and had some great games, but we lost some too. Personally I think Detriot was harder than the Packers and everyone knows we should have won that game.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. The position many fans like take. Play us down then be surprised. To each his own.

It's ok to be a little more confident. We have a very strong roster. We can't have all pros at each position with the cap but we have a few and that's enough.
Although many are saying we are weak at dt and rb we are going to be good.

A dominant team. It will be interesting to see how we as fans react.

The fans at the stadium better be crazy. We will have a high intensity defense with a dominant o-line like smh this could be very entertaining..for the next few years. Last year coupled with a great offseason (missing a backup QB but begger cant be chooser), I feel very happy with my life right now lol.

I was thinking of posting something like this last night, and here it is when I logged on this morning. I haven't been this excited for quite a while too. And I am more optimistic than not. Even last year, with the moves made, the draft, I knew the Defense had to be better just by staying healthy. But did not think they would be 12-4. I figured 10-6 at best if all went well.

So all the pundits can give us whatever draft grades they want. And I am over that 6th round pick in 2016 they gave away [kind of], but can live with it. But the grades which are fun as well as funny frustrating but a good laugh at times, let them grade away.
But they can't give us any less than an A for the entire off season, including not addressing the RB or DT positions. Off season not over yet.

Well the RB situation not as bleak as many think. I think McFadden will surprise a lot of fans and mediots. DT may be a different story, unless Whaley and Coleman really step up. But there are some other dynamics in play there too with the current roster. Some of the DE's can play inside at times too. Stephen Jones said Russell has the frame to bulk up and play inside. Coaches like what T. McClain can do. And he was injured throughout the season last year. Mincey, DLaw, Hardy all can have plays at DT also.

I just cannot believe the offseason the Cowboys are having this offseason. For the price of a late 1st and late 2nd round picks, the Cowboys are coming away with 3 1st round picks. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever imagine that happening. Let me share a few thoughts.

1. The signing of La'el Collins neutralizes the Commanders selection of Brandon Scherff and the Giants Erick Flowers. Even though Washington and New York had seasons to forget, they did not gain on the Cowboys with their offensive line selections. It was fun going over to the Giants board hearing their dismay for their front office not selecting Collins in the draft. In fact, one Giants fan even said Collins would not crack the starting lineup. Many other Giants fans disagreed.

What breaks my heart is that I am a big fan of Ron Leary. However, with his degenerative knee, you just do not know how many years he has. I thought he played really well last season. If you considered him the weak link, then Dallas did not have much of a weak link. This is part of the reason why the Cowboys are regarded as the best offensive line in the NFL.

2. To me, Randy Gregory is Dallas' next Charles Haley. I love this YouTube video on Gregory:

I do not really care how much Gregory weighs. If he can make plays, and become a focal point on the defense making everyone around him better, then Dallas will go far this season. Right now, Demarcus Lawrence is the primary rushing threat - that could change.

Bottom Line: If Dallas cannot get a solid pass rush from Lawrence, Gregory, and Hardy (later on), then the Cowboys might as well fold as a franchise.

3. Chaz Green and Laurance Gibson: I am just as intrigued with Gibson as I am with Green. I think both will develop into fine offensive tackles at the same general caliber as Doug Free. I really like Doug Free and I would be happy with that.

4. Damian Wilson: Many are expecting him to be the equivalent of Hitchens. What concerns me is that he may not have the same opportunity Hitchens had (due to the Lee injury). How many linebackers do you keep on the roster? If Wilson and 7th round pick Mark Nzeocha turn out to be special teams demons, does Jasper Brinkley get cut? Gachkar was already brought to Dallas for his special teams skills.

5. I don't know much about Russell, Nzeocha, or Swaim. I doubt any of them make the roster. We will see.

6. I am really hoping Antwan Goodly becomes the 5th WR and kick/punt returner. Also intrigued by RB Synjin Days.

Something real special is happening in Dallas. I cannot wait for the season to start!

Great post, I think Goodly will be the 4th receiver for Dallas, Randy Gregory is Dallas' next Charles Haley I hope this is true, and really like the pick, and Collins is the cherry on top.

Like everyone else, I'm crazy excited about this season.

But that defense was bad last year. Better than 2013, but still very bad.
I think the improvement continues, but it'll need to be by a good bit, IMO.
The others teams in the league aren't sitting still.

No way at all..IMO, does Collins somehow neutralize the addition of other 1st round lineman to teams who needed the help at the position far more than we did.

And rookie pass rushers and CBs rarely make a big difference in year one.
I'm hoping ours do.

Still...crazy excited though.

Just look at the age of our overall roster. That has me excited The exception of Romo, Witten, Free, all are under 30. And the majority haven't hit their prime yet. Can't remember a Cowboy's team this stacked with so much youth. Early 90's CBoys teams I guess.

Yes, you hit the nail on the head, the early 90's teams when Jimmy coached the Cowboys to the 2 Super Bowl wins, that was the last time I saw this much young talent on a Cowboys team. Hope we get 2 Super Bowl wins in a row starting this year.

We went 12-4 last year and had we not gotten screwed in Green Bay, we would've been playing for the right to go to the Super a bowl. Now to this season. Name one team in the entire NFL that improved its roster more than we did. Just one. We signed one of the best pass rushers in the league (suspension pending), we drafted the best pass rusher in the draft, drafted a first round corner, signed another dominant OLineman, and are getting one of the league's best LBers back. Yes, we lost Murray, but I'm not convinced that will make a big difference. I think we'll have just as good a rushing attack as last year, only with the carries and yards being spread around. That's not a bad thing. It keeps the backs fresher and less injury prone and gives defenses more to deal with. As long as Romo stays healthy, I'm looking to be one of the 4-5 teams competing for a Lombardi Trophy.

im not just a person who can look at the record and say "yea" dallas did that, we beat seattle and had some great games, but we lost some too. Personally I think Detriot was harder than the Packers and everyone knows we should have won that game.

Detroit was harder because it was a home game. Dallas was .500 in the regular season home games. Green Bay was on the road where the Cowboys were undefeated in the regular season so of course they played better. If not for that call, who knows what could've been.

I was pretty excited, but the fact that anyone is talking about deflategate again has signalled that its time to forget about football for a couple of months. There is obviously nothing to talk about.

Love that Gregory video. I'm really excited to see how all 3 of these guys develop. It's pretty funny to me that our actual first round pick is the one flying under the radar in terms of fan hype.
