It would have been inconceivable to me years ago but I am strongly considering giving up my fan hood and watching any NFL. I know it sounds maudlin and dramatic but I have lost so much joy for the league and have interests elsewhere that I actually think it could happen. I am a hockey maniac so it’s not like there is no winter sport for me. Cowboys aside I hate what this league has done and the games are unwatchable at times. I also have no hope that the Cowboys will re capture their glory as long as the Jones family owns them. I used to think things would be better when Jerry passed on but I think Stephen will be worse is some ways. Watching this team sleep walk through the last 3 games and Jerry defending this clown of a coach has me nearing the end of the line. I went Salmon fishing the last few days so really didn’t pay attention to the game. My buddy and I were actually howling over the Jets beating them. I dropped a note here early last week and all but predicted how that game could turn out. It did.
My doomsday clock is at about 11:50. Where are you guys at? Could you give up football?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
I guess if I was a fan, I would have left many years ago after Jerry Jones fired a back to back winning Super Bowl Head Coach in 1994 (Jimmy Johnson) and then ran off a 2 time winning with 3 appearances Super Bowl Head Coach in 2006 (Bill Parcells).
However, I liked the Dallas Cowboys because my Grandfather was a Cowboys fan, my father was a Cowboys fan, for the majority of my life the Dallas Cowboys had 20 straight winning seasons, 18 of 19 straight playoff appearances, 10 NFC Championship games, 8 Super Bowls, 5 NFL Super Bowl Championships, great players like Lilly, White, Too Tall, Martin, Pearson, Jordan, Howley, Dorsett, Irvin, Aikman, Smith, Allen, and characters like Hollywood, TO, The Sphinx, Dez, and "what do voluntary mean". The Dallas Cowboys are the only NFL team that had 2 Heisman trophy winners win a Super Bowl, have iconic numbers that are not retired but earned and relieved by new generations wearing 12, 22, 33, 88, 54, and 74.
Moreover, the Dallas Cowboys had iconic American leaders that showed and lived a moral centered life like Tom Landry and Roger Staubach. Name me an NFL team that has any better examples of being an American that the Dallas Cowboys with Tom Landry, and Medal of Freedom winner Roger Staubach?
So it is not what the Arlington Jonesboys are doing today. It is what the Dallas Cowboys are from the beginning...America's Team. So I put up with the incompetent so called GM, incompetent HC, and incompetent OC that have been and inconsistent incompetent mess since 1995. So I could understand why fans since 1995 want to jump ship.
However, "They are the Dallas Cowboys...America's Team".
