I am usually a BPA type over need but

It is becoming painfully obvious that our left tackle is getting close to the end. I wanted defense front 7 in the first round but if there is a LT ranked appropriately on the draft board when they pick, that really needs to be the pick.

Seldom is it only bpa or need, most times it's both.
The 1977 Cowboys is one team that had both neatly dovetail together, with Dorsett, obviously the college rushing leader with blazing speed was the bpa, but as every Cowboys fan at the time knew a breakaway running back was THE need. The rest of the team was well stocked with top talent otherwise.

This may be another of the same situation, a great LT is a top athlete, and of course for any team with a right handed quarterback it's a huge need.

I don't see any other position that is a greater need for this team...

I think LB will be the biggest need once decisions are made with F.A.'s

you can get good starting LBs in rds 3-4

I was for DL also but if we resign Gregory and if Gallimore and Osa and Hill keep playing better then LOT is the biggest weak point

Having pretty much iced the division, it might be hard to draft an LT where we will be

I don’t see a franchise LT being available when we draft. But you could definitely get a starting interior lineman if they don’t think Williams’ replacement is on the roster.

We need a new tackle badly, but all the dancing bears usually go top 20. Usually you are either looking at a raw project with a playoff level pick, or a solid guy with some athletic limitations.

If there's a tackle in the 20s I feel good about, then by all means let's go get him, but I wouldn't force the pick. LT has a pretty steep dropoff between the top guys and the next tier. It's not like say WR where you can be a decent #2 or a good slot guy, it's either you can handle the planet's freakiest pass rushers 1 on 1 all game or you can't.

This times a million…

It’s also not a very strong OT class so that doesn’t help.

On the other hand, we could prolly get a stud OG if that’s BPA bottom 1st.

Maybe take a developmental OT that can play LG, and possibly move to T after a year or two of development.

Not a bad idea…I wouldn’t be opposed to taking an OT early that might project as an NFL OG. Give him a shot then worst case you have a LG replacement:

I think Kenyon Green and Darian Kinnard are 2 guys that have played tackle but are projected to move inside. Green is absolutely a 1st round talent. Kinnard might be an early round 2 guy. If Green is sitting there available he would be hard to pass up.

The cowboys absolutely need an OT/OG in the draft. A guy who maybe can play both. That way if Tyron is or can be healthy for another year or two. They can start at LG until the time comes.

Doesn’t mean it has to be in the first round. But if one of those guys is Worth the pick, you take him.

I'm in agreement that we need a new LT. What happened to Zion Nelson from Miami? I don't see his name in mock drafts anymore.
