I was certainly no Bill hater, but when he lost at the end of the year, Bill would go into his rathole and not address the media. During the year, he would say quite often, "it's not time for a state of the union." Well at the end of the year, it is time for a state of the union.

And stand up people in my mind, face the music by facing the press and address what went on (why you lost, etc.). Bill in many ways is a stand up person I think, but not in that way. He is a coward when it comes to facing the media at the end of the year when you've lost.

Phillips did his best spin job and some of it may have been a little lame, but I give him credit for facing the music.

While I agree, I also agree with JJT. Phillips needs to stop sugarcoating this letdown we displayed on Sunday. It IS a big deal. The 13-3 BS needs to stop.

I'm not liking his approach to this at all. There is no area of concern, everything is okey dokey in Wade land. This was evident by anytime a reporter said anything negative, he had some stupid stat or something to regurgitate that proves how good they were. Well, they obviously weren't.

Wade, you seriously need to step up to the plate as a head coach here. You said you wanted to be known as a great head coach, not just coordinator. Well, you failed an important step in doing so, again.

*ugh* even Jim Rome was blasting Phillips on his show today.

It's even uglier when the national sports media starts ripping your own coach. It's one thing when they do it to a player, but when your HC starts getting rediculed for his follies, THAT'S an embarrasment.:bang2:

All Rome does is run his mouth regardless. Just phone Jim Everett to straighten him out.

I remember back in the day (last yr..lol) when we had each other on ignore. I laugh when I think about that.

Wow. I don't think any of it was lame. I think it was the flat out truth. We outplayed the other team, yet lost. That's all he was saying. Hearing that PC made me feel really good. I'd already felt good about the loss, because I knew we'd outplayed them, but hearing Wade say it certainly was good.

We weren't 13-3. We were 13-4. That's the problem.

I agree. Phillips faces the music, but he's stubborn in his own way. You don't change the demeanour of people in their 60's. He's not going to change his style. Garrett is pretty quiet and calm too. Chemistry reasons suggest to me that we could use a real yeller/motivator in the coaching mix.

Someone needs to kick some butt and be the bad guy, AND he needs Phillips support. Now, we need players to lead as well, it can't be all the coaches.

First year head coaches win superbowls all the time, right?

First year head coaches always get to take over one of the most talented teams in the league, go 13-3, and capture home field advantage throughout the playoffs, right?

Nobody said anything about winning a Super Bowl.

But losing your first playoff game at home? Disgraceful.

You do know this wasn't Phillips first year as a head coach right?

Only two coaches have done it in Siefert and Switzer and they took over teams that won over 12 games and had played in Super Bowls and NFC Title Games. Those teams are also teams that are discussed when the topic of greatest teams of all time and dynasties are brought up.

What was our record in 2006?

The loss sucks but people seem to have completely loss touch with reality. Has Wade ever once said anything negative publicly about his team and players anyway?
