I've only seen a few plays ( Thanks Theebs ) but I cannot believe that noone has mentioned the fact that we can now run the SCREEN PASS!

JJ/Barber/Thompson will make things happen this year and will be a threat to take it to the house. This makes losing LA a bit easier to deal with.

I mentioned it in the replay thread. Yeah, looks like they changed the design of the screen.

Yeah, that and actually having some offensive linemen capable of blocking for the screen.

Yes Kyle Kosier seemed to do an ok job. He , along with the rest of the line need to step it up withthe run game, but its a good start.

The one screen pass to JJ in the second series was set up well, but not executed after the catch. Rivera looked lost out there.

True, but it was waaay better than what we've been doing in the past.
I see progress!

I'm beginning to see that both the sweep and the screen return since LA left. He couldn't move anymore, we'll have many more perimeter plays, its now our strength...

believe me, it did not go unnoticed at my house.

we actually stood up and cheered for joy. :lmao:

we surmised that the cowboys haven't successfully had this in the offense since the early 80's.

Everytime we throw a screen pass, a little piece of me dies inside

That is one thing that gets ignored. We had mobile athletic lineman back in the days of Coach Landry. Then we got enormous. And Larry Allen, bless his heart, isn't necessarily someone built to block for a screen pass.

I actually mentioned that in a thread earlier today, so I'll pat myself on the back. Thompson will be a killer if he gets on the outside...unless he outruns his initial blcokers. All joking aside, that guy is dangerous if he hits open field. I knew he was fast, but was quite surprised at how fast he actually was. I think his niche will be screens, and one of two or three other routes I noticed the backs running for passes.

Actually, Allen was getting pretty good at that part of the play when you let your guy go pretty much unblocked into the backfield.
