I always find it funny when Cowboys fans blast opposing quarterbacks who win ugly, or win by "managing" a game, when those same arguments were used to blast our own Troy Aikman. I hated the argument then and still do.
I have disliked Roethlisberger for some time. I hate how he seems so smug and arrogant ... but above all, I hate that he so often finds a way to win.
He's everything Romo isn't. Roethlisberger can play horribly all game, yet lead the Steelers to the game-winning field goal or touchdown. Romo hasn't shown he can do this -- basically, win ugly -- when it matters most late in the season.
Roethlisberger was putrid most of today, yet didn't throw a single pick. Contrast that to Romo who, when things go bad, things go baaad. And believe me, I'm not a Romo basher. I'm still of the belief we're fortunate to have him because I still feel like it was yesterday when I spent my Sundays watching Leaf, Stoerner and Carter.
But Romo needs to develop the sort of thing that makes Roethlisberger so good. We know Romo can go out there and throw for 300 and win games. But he needs to show he can win when the passing game isn't always there, when every possession is so valuable and we can't afford turnovers and when the season is on the line.
Roethlisberger pretty regularly does all of that. And I hate him for it.
