I could actually see a defensive line heavy draft

One name picking up steam at 26 is Will McDonald. And looking at the player, the value and the positional value you have to consider him a strong possibility

Interest in defensive tackles has started to pick up. Dexter and Young were combine interviews. Roy has been announced as an official visit, and Durde has been to Wisconsin and USC's pro day to look at Benton and Tuipulotu (Tuipulotu could be consider either an end or DT). Will be interesting to see if those names make the official visit list.

At this stage, its still to early to tell, but it looks like going DL heavy in the top 120 is at least a possibility

I’ll believe it when I see it.
Agree we need to upgrade the DL but I wouldn’t pass on an offensive playmaker if one is available like Gibbs, Hyatt, or BJ…scoring points was our problem in the playoffs and none of the DL in this draft move the needle for home outside of the top 10 guys.

Well we added a #2 WR. They aren't going to feel pressured to draft a playmaker high. If they draft Hyatt over McDonald, people need to get fired

Maybe, but we are razor thin at RB. I know there are decent ones in mid rounds but do you really pass on BJ or Gibbs if they are sitting there? A position of dire need and an almost guaranteed playmaker….?

We have a Pro Bowl running. We don't need one bad enough to take one that high

I would like to see it, but I highly doubt it. This offseason started about letting the OC/OL coaches go and they basically brought the whole defense back. Just look at the 30 visitors that are slowly coming in, think more receivers then any other position. Thus far, just one DT/LB and a couple of corners.

This is true but the coaches are also making the rounds as the OP has stated.

I'm all about BPA.

Feels like this is the first draft in quite awhile where the front office can go BPA in every round.

RB needs to be addressed, but there should be good players available in the 3rd.

OL, DL, RB, TE in no particular order. Definitely see the value in planning for life after DLAW and you cant really have enough people to rush the QB, but could also see OL or TE in the 1st as well. Don't see RB unless Robinson is there. I would also not be surprised if they went CB if one of the top guys drop (sorry Risen).

Will Mcdonald ticks all the boxes especially at 26.very productive and a very good athlete too.I can definitely see him being the pick unless someone unexpected falls.

Are we razor thin at RB? We’ve got a pro-bowler as lead back that is supported by a Super Bowl winning backup RB and then a guy who showed a bit of promise in Davis. It’s a need but dire is a stretch. The real need is just to add offensive weapons but there’s other ways to achieve that.

I don‘t think RB is a huge need, but Robinson if available would change everything. No way they pass on him. We don’t seem to be looking at any of the top TE‘s but a lot of the top WR’s are getting attention. Should be interesting.

I think so…more so than other positions. We have one guy who is coming off major injury

I like so many RBs in this draft.i will be sorely dissapointed if we didnt draft one for a because of Ronald freaking Jones.

I think with Bijan the floor (excluding injury) is a 10m per season player with a ceiling of 15m per season (best in the league). In terms of salary that’s Michael Gallup. What are the chances you find a WR that is more valuable than Bijan?

It’s the same argument with Tight Ends and thats further reinforced when you consider the hit rate on TE’s and RB’s that succeed 1st round compared to WR, OL and DL. Bijan is a freak, maybe he’s an exception but that’s what is required to take him at 26.

I dont know about D Line heavy. Gotta prop up a mediocre QB. First pick aside, I think that ends up the theme.

How big is this McDonald kid? I thought he looked really thin from his highlights video.

We have four guys in the room (Pollard, Jones, Davis, Dowdle). Pollard is expected to be available well before training camp so we should have plenty of opportunity to see if there are any long-term effects.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for drafting a guy, especially with the quality in this draft. It’s just not a dire need. Worst case scenario if a RB doesn’t fall to us, and Pollard looks bad in training camp, there is still half a dozen retread guys in free agency we could use as a bridge. Hell, if things looked really bad we could probably trade for Dalvin Cook.

In other positions, if it’s not already on the roster or addressed in the draft, we are basically f’ed until next year.
