One name picking up steam at 26 is Will McDonald. And looking at the player, the value and the positional value you have to consider him a strong possibility

Interest in defensive tackles has started to pick up. Dexter and Young were combine interviews. Roy has been announced as an official visit, and Durde has been to Wisconsin and USC's pro day to look at Benton and Tuipulotu (Tuipulotu could be consider either an end or DT). Will be interesting to see if those names make the official visit list.

At this stage, its still to early to tell, but it looks like going DL heavy in the top 120 is at least a possibility
The DL they've met with up to this point is minimal.

The full 30 list is still unknown, but...

We have four guys in the room (Pollard, Jones, Davis, Dowdle). Pollard is expected to be available well before training camp so we should have plenty of opportunity to see if there are any long-term effects.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for drafting a guy, especially with the quality in this draft. It’s just not a dire need. Worst case scenario if a RB doesn’t fall to us, and Pollard looks bad in training camp, there is still half a dozen retread guys in free agency we could use as a bridge. Hell, if things looked really bad we could probably trade for Dalvin Cook.

In other positions, if it’s not already on the roster or addressed in the draft, we are basically f’ed until next year.
Seems to me we have more talent at DT then RB though…Galiimore, OSA, Bohanna, Hankins…and then flex with Gholston and Armstrong…seems deep…not overly talented but better than the RB crew after Pollard. JMO…but I def agree with you…I’d like to have more talent at DT. Wish we had gone after Robinson even though he cost a lot more than Hankins.
But overall, still think we need offensive weapons a bit more than D just will depend on who’s available when we are on the clock.

Right now we have:
  • DE: D-Law, Armstrong, Williams, Fowler, Parsons, McKinley
  • DT: Odigizuwa, Golston, Hankins, Bohanna, Gallimore
That’s 11 guys and while Parsons is some what of a hybrid and they aren’t all guaranteed to make the roster, it still a pretty crowded room.

We could really use one guy at the top of the roster both short and long-term but I’m not sure multiple guys is the best use of resources.

McDonald makes too much sense IMO. High end athlete, awesome tape (broke the Iowa State single-season sack record as a sophomore, then broke his own record again), perfect scheme fit, premium position...

He doesn't fill a need. In fact, DE might already be the most loaded position on the roster. But over 5 years, he will be just about the most impactful dude you will find with a late first round pick.

I hope fans understand this. He may give you close to nothing because of the guys in front of him. But if we’re taking an edge player, he would be my choice.

I'm all about BPA.

Feels like this is the first draft in quite awhile where the front office can go BPA in every round.

RB needs to be addressed, but there should be good players available in the 3rd.
