I could see trading Romo when DEN/HOU on the clock

...in the first round of the draft, if a DE target (Barnett, Charlton, McKinley) slips to 20 (DEN) or 25 (HOU). Trade Romo and our first for their first and a conditional pick (3rd? 4th?). I don't think that DEN or HOU will be doing anything at QB in free agency, nor do I think we will be doing anything big at DE in free agency, so this type of deal could be prearranged before the draft (as could a renegotiated salary for Romo on the new team). Kills two birds with one stone: gets us our "war daddy" pass rusher without having to mortgage our draft picks and gets Romo's salary off our books.

I'm all for getting something for a Romo but we only get a 3rd/4th round conditional and move up how many spots for 1st pick? I don't know... I'm asking...

You are trading 28, Romo, and a pick for 25?

Maybe we should add in Dak and see if we can get up to 24

I think he has us receiving a conditional third or fourth, so Romo and 28 for 25 and a third/fourth. I might do that deal if we haven't been able to get a better one before that and there's only one pass rusher left who we want when Denver is on the clock.

I think trading Romo to flip spots in the first round could be a creative way to deal but it won't happen during the draft. That's an NBA type trade. Whoever trades for Romo will want to have him well before the draft.

Not necessarily. In an ideal world, HOU or DEN would offer us a draft pick today. But they are going to wait it out to see if our price goes down. But push will come to shove on draft day. It often does.

Also a good chance to get a better pick for 2018 right after the season starts and someone gets desperate after their qb gets hurt or they realize he just aint cutting it.

I understand now.

Even still ... moving up to #20.... I guess... something is better than nothing.

Maybe I want a 3rd and a 4th.... or someone off their roster.

if it helps. For Dallas to trade up from 28th to 20th, it would normally take approximately this year's 2nd rounder. The value/cost of that trade up is a late 2nd rounder.

So in draft pick equivalents, he's saying:

1) give them our 1st (28) and Romo
for
2) their 1st (20), a late 2nd, and a conditional 3 or 4.

If the last good DE in the whole draft was going at #25, I might consider it. But that's not going to be the case. I'm not up on the DE's in this draft, but if it's true that this draft is deep for DE's, we could get a very good DE in the 2nd or 3rd anyway. I say we just sit tight and let the draft come to us.....

None of those guys are worth moving up for

Our 1st, Romo and LCollins for Myles Garrett
