I'm finally excited about this team's direction. Yes, the draft cards may have not fallen as some may have wanted, but our first 3 picks are straight BALLERS. We may have "lucked" into some staples on our team for years to come.
Our offense now has one of the youngest, moth athletic, most intelligent lines in football. They all protect a QB who some criticize for playing the game at too high a mental level. Our offense can play. We are all familiar with this team's ability to play with anyone and lose to anyone, the former being due to Tony Romo's ability to play out of his mind. If Romo can come back 100% and have the same zip and swagger, we are dangerous. With this kind of line, he can actually afford to play that gunslinger football we all know and love. He's going to repeatedly have that extra second he needs to make reads, and DeMarco is gonna have that split second longer to hit an open lane that he needs to break one off.
Our defense is a few players and HEALTH away from being at least average. We simply have too many playmakers on D for our D to not gel and start playing good football. I believe Claiborne, Carr, Wilcox, Church, Lee and Carter will have HUGE rebound years. There has been much concern with our safety play and let me tell you this. You don't get great secondary play by having a revolving door at these positions. These 4 players need to trust eachother and play with eachother game after game to recognize each others tendencies. We need this unit to be together for a couple of seasons to see what they can really do. Church is a baller, he may not be great in coverage but this skill can be acquired. He has what you can't teach, the heart and desire to put his shoulder pad on whoever has the football every single down, every single game. Anybody who had him on their fantasy teams know this. These are players who need to gel and if they can all stay healthy it might be the first season they all play a full season together.
Also, I have always been one of Garrett's biggest critics. But honestly, I think its time this "training" process pays us back. This guy is no idiot, I believe he's gonna get it at some point. He honestly seems like a good guy and a good football mind, he just needs to get it together.
