I don't care what Skins fans say, that was a fluke win, and I blame the Bears

I watched the tape again and it's freaking unbelievable what happened. Five minutes left, we had sacked Brunell all day, Bledsoe had remained relatively unbothered the entire game. Skins couldn't score at all. Their feared defense was held intact. Cowboys were playing conservative mistake-free football and not trying to do anything crazy because the defense had dominated Washington. Parcells was undefeated in his entire career going into the 4th with that kind of lead. The Skins had a 3rd and forever, a 4th and 15, Roy almost had an interception at the end of the game. I can go on.

No Skins fan is going to convince me that was anything more than a fluke. Just like when the Cowboys got damn lucky against the Panthers a few years ago. Remember that game? When Quincy threw the ball, it was deflected and landed in Joey Galloway's hands and allowed us to score 2 quick touchdowns at the end of the game? Crazy stuff happens when mobile QBs are forced to improvise.

I don't blame Zimmer, I don't blame Glenn, I don't blame Cortez for missing the field goal, I don't blame Bledsoe for not manufacturing his own miracle comeback, I blame the freaking Bears for hurting Ramsey and allowing Gibbs to give Brunell a chance. No way in hell Ramsey ever would have done any of that! :bang2:

It just wasn't meant to be.

Once the Cowboys start "playing to win" instead of "playing not to lose"....wake me up.

I tried to get myself angry at Parcells for playing too conservative but I can't blame the guy at all. I probably would have done the same thing. The defense allowed nothing up until the last 5 minutes. Parcells had no reason to doubt they couldn't hold them again.

Brunnell was horrible. ESPN can tout him as having a great day and Gibbs being a genius, but he was horrible.

Without those two throws, he was 18 for 32, 182 yards, 1 INT, O TD's, 5.7 yards per attempt, a 59.1 QB rating and was sacked 5 times.

They did nothing on offense for all of two plays.

Not to mention that the refs missed a blatant hold on Glover on that 3rd and 27 play.

Commanders fans should be happy as hell about the win and a bit optimistic since they are 2-0. But they are not a playoff team if Brunnell continues to play like they do.

Blaming the Bears..? No.

I blame myself. If only I was born 6'4" with 4.3 speed and played FS with excellent coverage skills, went to the NFL and played for Dallas, and would have been in position to make the play instead of watching the game on TV, we would have won.

So everyone, please blame me. It is all my fault and I am sorry.

The run the football....

1st and 10: Run got you 6 yards.
2nd and 4: Need to keep the clock going....you shouldn't pass here. What do we do? Pass....incomplete.
3rd and 4: Should we run? Nah, lets pass. Incomplete.
4th and 4: Hmmmm....

Keep in mind that the Skins were NOT stacking the line either....they were playing 4 man fronts.

I'm not mad at BP in this instance as he wasn't calling the plays....it was Payton.

Did Fassell get sick of too many teams coming from behind and beating them? Quite possibly.

We could have been the team in Giants uniforms last night. The play-calling late in the game was atrocious.

BP should have stepped in and taken the play-calling from him....he seems to know how to keep the lead. (77-0 prior to last night).

Coincidence that he is now 77-1? I don't think so.

Let Payton call the plays...until the 4th qtr. and we have a lead. After that, take it away from him.

I blame myself. If I had a billion dollars back in 1988, I'd have given it all to buy the Cowboys. Hired Jimmy Johnson, and let him run the show.

We'd have at least another 2-5 trophies in the case right now.

Well now he does and hopefully he and Zimmer learn from this.

Sorry but this kind of statement drives me nuts. There's nothing more pathetic than the losing side trying to take solace in the 'fluke' nature of a loss. It's one thing when you get robbed by the officials (ex. Sanders interfering with Irvin) but when you are a bad team (which we are until we proven otherwise) that loses to another supposedly bad team, there's really nothing to do but take it on the chin and figure out what can be improved. Last night was no more of a fluke than last year's win over Washington or the Monday night game in 2001, when Davis fumbled it in our redzone and Nix recovered, or even everybody's favourite win, the 1999 season opener when we came back from a huge deficit and beat the Skins on the bomb to Ismail. If we're going to claim the elation that comes with the wins, then we must also face up to the shame that comes with a loss like last night's. I don't think I have ever felt as gutted as I did last night and indeed this morning. Searching for comfort in the winning team's luck does little to alleviate the burning pain that I feel now.
