I don't have a problem with keeping a 3rd QB

It wasn't long ago the Boys went through all three in a season. We have a fairly unproven offensive line that hopefully has gelled to the point of competence before the NY game.

Is a 6th Wr that won't get any snaps or a LB that is never going to see the field any more important to keep on the roster?

McGee is kinda lousy- granted. But he has QB'd a victory in the league and almost rallied the team for another. Do you want to bring in say a Colt McCoy or Thigpen instead of someone that knows the personnel and playbook forward and backward? I think that is debatable. I'd lean towards an upgrade myself.

I wasn't impressed with Danny Coale at all tbh. He didn't show any speed and it might not have been his fault. That was a nice grab last night over the middle, but is he going to unseed a Dwayne Harris who really looks like a different player this season?

Hamilton. I wish we found someone else to cut tbh. He's a one trick pony but man what a trick it is. I hope he finds a way to the PS.

I agree with you on keeping a third QB, whoever it is. One punctured lung for Romo and that 3rd QB becomes the backup in that game.

I also agree that getting rid of a 3rd QB to allow some other player to be on the roster that probably won't even play and is not as important as a QB...just does not make sense to me.

If one is kept on the practice squad and they just go with two, I could understand that...but, man, you never know.

Keeping a third QB goes against basic logic, assuming said QB clearly has no future starting potential.

If Romo and Orton both go down, our season is over anyway. At that point we can sign any Joe Blow to lose games with. Now, we're wasting a roster spot on a guy who in no way helps us. On the other hand, guys like Lemon and Hamilton could actually contribute to winning.

I posted this in another thread, but it applies here. McGee can run. Playing RGIII and Vick twice each, it helps the defense if they can practice against a running QB. I think that alone makes McGee worth more than the 6th OLB on the team. I know they could use a WR or RB to play Vick's role in practice, but then the defense would not have to respect the pass option in practice.

There's no point. If the franchise QB and the backup both go down, the season is over. Period. It doesn't matter who we bring in at that point.

True romo and orton go out we're done!!! Should have only kept 2 romo gets hurt bring one in. I know we dont need him and i dont want him but mcbriar could've came in handy being the emergency QB. But i dont think we ever had to use him for that.

You make a good point...

McGee is such a waste of a roster spot. I just don't understand it with the caliber of players we have at the position.

I'm not a big McGee fan, but who was he playing with last night?

I think he'd look a lot better with the starting line in front of him, DeMarco Murray behind him, and Miles, Dez, and Witten to throw to.

Personally, I still think McGee gets cut eventually (after Carpenter clears waivers and goes on the practice squad). But keeping three QB's means if something happens to Romo, Dallas isn't going to have to sign a Chris Griesen again to be the backup (like the past two years).

You don't keep a QB on the 53 just so he can pretend to other qbs in practice. That's what the practice squad is for. If its that important to have a guy that can play Vick and RGIII in practice, then you can get a mobile QB type and put him on the practice squad. You don't cut good young players instead.

Mcgee has no value that I see now that he cant be on PS. Find another young qb if you feel you need to carry a third. No one can convince me that there isnt another qb out there that cant give us what Mcgee does. Plus the young might actually have an upside. Mcgee has shown he does not. 4 years and a few starts is enough.

They could always find a project to stick on the PS in the event Romo and Orton go down.

I dont have an issue with keeping a 3rd QB, but it has to be the right guy or it doesnt make sense. To me McGee will be lucky to develop into a solid back up at this point.
