Sean Salisbury saying we're the best in the NFC.. Fox Sports saying "The Boys are Back"..Jimmy Johnson all over us as a top NFC team.

I'm not saying this isn't a great team with a chance to win the divison, but I just hate the fact that after one game all of the sudden we're the darlings of the media and are now expected to be an elite team again. The Philadelphia game was a beat down, but it was one of those games where everything went right for us and wrong for them - that won't happen very often, and I'm not saying we aren't that good, but there's just as much of a chance that we'll go back to the inconsistant team we saw in the first 4 weeks.

I hope the team isn't buying into their hype.

And unfortunately having a lot of young guys on one hand teamed with a bunch of older guys that haven't had much success in this league lately on the other they might drink too much of the koolaid and by the time they wake up we might be 4-5.

But I'm hoping Parcells and the rest of the coaching staff can smack some of that out of them.

I knew this would happen. The outcome of the game was do or die, if we had lost, even by a little, we would have been the dogs of the NFC East. I kind of like the NFL the way it is now, anthing can happen, I think we stand a good chance of doing some things. However, I thought that last week too. One game really shouldn't completely change how a team is viewed.

Agreed. We better come out fired up vs the Giants or we're going to get stomped on.

Yeah, I hate hearing people praise us...

Things were much better when we were 5-11 and a national laughingstock.

You'll think so if the Giants come out and stomp a hole in us cos we thought we were "all that" because of the press clippings. ;)

I actually think it cold be a very good thing.

Sometimes it helps motivate a team, it helps them feel good about themselves and what they are capable of.

Sometimes it makes them see what they can do, and help them achieve obstacles.

Sometimes it is a great reward for all your hard work and keeps you going in the right direction.

We all in life struggle and get beat down by others, and that can be very hard to take.

Then when you get praised and feel good about what you are doing it gives you confidence and allows you to get on a roll.

All I am saying is there are 2 sides to that coin.

Its been said on here before and I'll say it again; if this team is on top, or near the top, of their game they are as good as any team in the NFC, maybe in the league.
The majority of the guys making the plays on offense are proven players who have won big playoff games, been to Superbowls and are capable of pro-bowl caliber seasons.
Allen, Rivera, and Keyshawn played and contributed on SB winning teams.
Bledsoe, Glenn, and Campbell helped teams get to the SB.
They all know what it takes to get there.
I was hesitant to get too excited about this team until it proved it could put it all together. It did that against Philly. I will get more excited when they prove they can do it on a consistent basis. Only time will tell but I think there is a good chance they can play at consistently high level. Its a much different team than the last two years.

Not a thing wrong with all the praise.........I love it.

BUT!!!, No regular season, playoff games, are Super Bowls were ever won in the press.....Now we simply have to live up to the hype on the field. This team needs to strive for consistency and run off about 4-5 (3-4) wins in a roll. That would legitimize the favorable press.

Can this team do that?????? They certainly have the talent to pull it off. If they play and improve on last Sundays performance......the answer to the question is a definite "YES".

Sometimes that gets in the other team's heads and they play tentative.

In the early 90's the media was all over us as the best team. Teams "got up" to play us and still couldn't get the job done.

I don't mind the confidence boost and I doubt very highly Parcells lets the team "eat the cheese." He learned from the Carolina game in 2003 "you can't call them losers any more."

If they beat us, I don't think it will be because of anything Salisbury or any other talking head said, but because they're legitimately better than we are...

Besides, I've seen at least as much love for Eli as I have for our team. They've about got him in Canton already. So I think we're no worse than tied in the media cheese department.

Really though, when the talent and coaching on this team finally all comes together for us, we're going to get lots of attention. I don't think there's any way America's Team is going to sneak under the radar. So the players will just have to learn to deal with it. :D

Don't mind Hoffa, he was a guy who when we were ahead of the Lions 28-0 in 2003 said we had not put the Lions away and that McMahon could bring them back. He is a tad negative ;)

It's way too early to start claiming that the Cowboys are one of the top teams in the NFC. Granted we kicked the crap out of Philly (Still love it), but the offense hasn't been as consistent as it should, and our defense has had some problems against the run and deep pass. One game doesn't define a season, but I do believe more teams will take us seriously from this point forward.

I expect the Cowboys to probably start out slow against the Giants, but win the game.

Looking at Dallas schedule, the toughest two opponents, based on last years records, were San Diego and Philadelphia. Having won at least 2 of 3 (there is another against Phily coming), this is officially a good season, and the worst is over (two weeks to prepare for next Phily game).

Yeah I agree. In addition, their were passes that McNabb missed terribly that Manning will not. One that comes to mind is the pass to Westbrook up the seam. If he would've caught that pass he would have scored because we had no one deep and were playing man coverage on the Wr's.

If we improve a little on the deep pass defense (which appears to be the case) we should be OK and if we are indeed OK, that means we will see more of Roy in Tiki's face.

If Roy is in Tiki's face that means that their running game doesn't have a good chance of gaining much on Sunday.

If Roy is in the outfield more times than not, then it's up to our base personnel to hold it down in the trenches.

If we are able to control their running game in check for the most part without the extra man in the box, this will be a big reason to celebrate!

Whew that was fun!! :D

We've been sea-sawing our wins and losses. We have to break that trend and roll up some wins.

Giants are going to be tough. If we take two out of the next three, we'll stand 5-3 by the BYE. That would have us headed to a solid 10-6 season.

A win this weekend is a must for this young team. Once they start believing, then good things really happen. We have to get over this hump.

Starts with the Giants.

I love the sarcasm.

4.5" of rain in NYC this week. You guys gettin' snow yet?

These were the type of games Switzer, Gailey, and little guy used to lose. Coming off a big win, and needing to create momentum ... these guys always failed to motivate.
