I don't like this thought to pay Osa for one reason

No, they would not pay an outside free agent that much money, as they showed us last year when several good DTs were available.

But, I am not convinced this story about being close to a deal with OSA is real. I think this close to free agency, Osa is going to test the waters and see what he can get. I also think he probably knows Washington is going to make him an offer higher than what Dallas can pay.

This might be good though. Maybe Jerry will be miffed about losing Osa and do something like sign Milton Williams to replace him. Williams grew up in Crowley, Texas so maybe he wants to come back to his home state and pay less income taxes to play for Dallas. Working in Washington he will pay up to 10.75% on his income, including his signing bonuses. That is potentially over $1 million. In Dallas he would pay 0.
Pro athletes pay taxes on their game checks based on where each game is played. Williams plays a game against the Giants in New Jersey, he pays New Jersey income taxes. In Philly, a home game, he pays PA income taxes plus the City of Philadelphia tags him for an additional fee. The impact of no state income taxes is overstated in deference to pro athletes. It has not made a difference for Seattle, Tennessee, Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa Bay, Las Vegas, Houston or Dallas. Players are not straining at the leash to play for those teams.

Agents are aware of each states’ tax situation and certainly it’s a consideration in negotiations. It’s never going to be a “deal breaker”. It’s not a big factor.

He struggles against the run n and how many sacks does he have?

For that money bring in the best DT's in the game, he's not one of them.

He has a good name though

I understand, but signing bonuses are taxed by the state where his team is located. So a $20 million signing bonus in Dallas has zero state income taxes. In DC he would pay 10.75% of every dollar he makes over $1 million. He would pay over $2 million in state income taxes on a $20 million signing bonus.

If Williams sign a 4 year deal at $25 million per year, chances are he gets at least $30 million up font and pays over $3 million in taxes to DC he would not pay if he player for Dallas. That's a lot of money to give up.

Our guys were valuable to Washington last year.
what FAs did he replace them with?
Another in the long list of Jones overpaying at the elite level for actual average level talent.
But he won't pay the same money for better value.
Either overpays for talent or lets talent walk thinking he can replace them on the cheep with his masterful talent evaluation skills.
Has been convinced that his coordinators can turn a couple of overpaid players surrounded by a bunch of midlands into champions, by utilizing the proper scheme and system.

the Eagles just crushed the Chiefs rushing four, with nothing fancy.
Nothing fancy, done well, beats finesse. Relying on scheme and system forces mediocre players to make the perfect read, sort through the 20 variables of the scheme, on the fly, and react appropriately every single time. But that's not in their skill set. Like playing with fire, gonna get burned soon enough.

A couple marque players can't make it happen.
The man still thinks Troy, Michael and Emmitt did it on their own.

So it's either Osa at top dollar, or Osa walks and gets replaced by something cheep. That's our reality.

Cowboys should absolutely pursue a Williams as it looks as if Philly won’t be retaining him. Part of Stephen Jones’ “cap hell” theory, which is not without a degree of merit. It would be a bold move. And a smart one. I guess it comes down to how many teams are smart.

I have a feeling the Eagles will be drafting Ty Robinson. He reminded me of Cam Jurgens at the combine. But I see a lot of mock drafts have them taking Mike Green.

Keeping Osa doesn't upgrade our DL, but what it does do is keep us from adding FA resources. Sure, we can draft a couple of DT's but then we are relying on rookies to make an Immedient impact, which is foolish.
We need to build up the DL so we can lock horns with teams and not get pushed around. Osa gets pushed around easily in the run game and when we play "legit" teams we get beat up. I want us to be able to stand toe to toe with anyone and smack them in the face!

Good point, but WHAT did those same guys help us do when they were here, they got ran over, they had some success at times, but it wasn't anything that was anywhere we haven't been in the almost 30 years
Those same guys also got ran over in D.C.
The Commanders were 29th against the run...and that was with Allen and Payne.

It upgrades us if the rookies coming in play well. There's a chance that we add a 1st or 2nd round dtackle to the mix.

No clue what they’ll do or who they’ll draft. I would not be surprised to see them trade AJ Brown and Jordan Davis for some draft capital. One is expensive and the other is about to be. Could get some 3rds for one of them.

If Osa is resigned they will not "waste" a 1st or a 2nd round pick on a DT. Got to remember who we are talking about here. DE will be in play early, as so will WR, RB, LB. Them taking a DT will wait until the 5th round...or if we get a 4th back. I think them drafting another CB will come in to play before a DT.
Of course, we all need to tap our breaks a little bit with the speculation until we see what unfolds with FA.

If they are planning on plugging holes through free agency (inside the org and out) so they can truly draft BPA , I don’t mind it at all. To let him go, then turn around and have use a high draft pick to replace him, is an exercise in futility, for them at least. However, historically Jerry will pound his chest he did spend money in free agency on signings like this and say they don’t have money to go after others. If they are truly going “all in” great. But I will believe it when I see it.

If we lost Osa. People would point out how good he is.
I'm not saying he's BAD or anything like that, i'm just saying he was in there when we were getting run all over, and I don't think his limited play making is 20 million is what he should get, it's my opinion and it's your opinion nobody is wrong to be honest. The only truth is, it's THEIR money so they have the final say

BEST post of your career here!!!

When they say “We like our guys”, they might as well say “These are the only guys we know anything about.”
I know the player - precious Bill Parcells

How did they find Leonard Davis and Carr? Since they don't study
