I don't think J.Daniels is strong enough to excel at G

I seen too many games where he gets man handled and shoved back 5 yards. Reminds me of cooper honestly.

21 reps with 33 1/2 arms. Pick a G R3-5 like Austin Corbett who may be able to play OT which he played in college.

I'd rather OC cover than OT cover given we've got Fleming as a swing tackle. Though I'm looking for a 2nd round OG rather than a 1st

Based off the OP report, sounds like a healthy Mike Pouncey.
Very good center who was excellent in space/movement but struggled at guard.

...at least in the short term. Not saying he can't play the position either, I just think he's a MUCH better C prospect than G. He excels in space and on the move, perfect as a C for a team that runs a zone scheme or a team that uses a lot of screens and gadget plays. He actually reminds me of a bigger Jason Kelce...which should be a compliment. When on the move he's damn near great, but when asked to sit and anchor I think he's only so so. And obviously he's going to have to go 1 on 1 with bigger, stronger DT's on a consistent basis in the NFL. I actually think it would be a disservice to stick this kid at G, he's a pure C.

If we want to throw up the white flag and go safe with guard at 19 I think Hernandez is the pick. You know what he is and he's about as safe a plug and play day 1 starter as you can get. With that said, I don't want a G at 19 and definitely not Daniels

Daniels is one of the cleanest, most NFL ready OL prospects in the draft.

Martin's game isn't based on power...who cares if you've got great technique and maximize leverage?

Can't say Daniels is my fave prospect but I wouldn't hate taking him either.
A 20 year old will get bigger and stronger. That's a given.
If he's the weaklink on the OL in 2018 I can live with that and he protects in case Fredbeard goes down with injury.
All that said LG has generally been a more power position for us and this would be a departure.
New OL coach so it may be up to what he thinks the team needs at LG.

Danielz..If he isnt going to drop that far, why are we talking about him? No body on this forum thinks taking a gd at 19 is wise..

I Still have no issues with it, coz the stupidity of last year, melts away, not to mention we still have to integrate and find ways to manufacture a passing game with two new receivers, and hopefully we start preparing for Witten to retire..Lol

When talk about WR @ 19 is a serious conversation then you have to talk guard too because a Guard would actually make us better as compared to a WR that we won't use.

Except he had surgery on his labrum (shoulder) which from what I can tell means he’ll miss the start of the season with a likely return date as early/mid October.

I would still take him in the 2nd.

Olineman are like gold. Especially if you get a quality guy as a rookie.

Austin played well at the Senior Bowl. He's a R3-4 pick. IDK if he can play C. Just don't remember.
