I don't understand the anger over no safety...

First let me say that we have been linked to many free agents. I know they are not signed but I have to imagine we have a pretty strong idea of who we will be able to sign and who we would not be able to sign.
So, if we do get a Huff or another safety via free agency and resign Sensy then they start for sure... Then we have Church, Onsah, and McCray and Sandejo in there for backup. That sounds like a pretty good depth chart to me...

I know injuries play a role as well but they do with any player on the field not just drafted players. So, if we do sign a legitimate Safety then please explain why not drafting a Safety early is such a big deal.

I have to agree. Either our front office is completely clueless or they have an ace in the hole (Huff). I have to believe it's the latter.

The value is not good for safety in this draft. Actually, right around now is when the value for that position starts.

I'd love to get Sash...I think he'd start immediately. Underrated

I'm not angry although I would like to see a SS brought in to compete and also for insurance in case we cant lock up Gerald but odds are Huff and Gerald are our two safeties. AOA is progressing, the staff likes Church and there is simply not a lot of room if we carry 5 CB's to carry 5 safeties.

Very good point

I really don't care.. The safeties in this class arent very good so no need to draft bad players.

Of course we took Demarco Murray so...

Apparently, JJ and Co have a plan.

I don't like counting on FA, right now. I'm worried that Huff, Nnamdi, and co may be out of our price range. We still have to re-sign Spears, Hatcher, or Bowen or we have NO DEs. We need to re-sign Free or we're right back where we started on the OL.

I like Onsah, McCray, and Church....but none of them are ready yet.

I like our draft so far...but I do think we have to start addressing our secondary and DL soon.....

I think that the reason is our cap situation. We don't have a lot of space. We will probably cut some players but figure, we have to get a safety, a CB, Guards and probably a DE.

That's a lot of cap and it's not good to have to spend cap on FAs. It's better if you can draft them.

Will cry as loud when he does something to help us a win a game? I sure hope so.

I could see us adding a safety today, maybe Searcy.

I'd almost bet money that we select Searcy today.

I think it's a give we resign Free. No brainer. Based on how we've drafted, it also appears to be a given we will resign two of our three free agent DEs. Personally, I want to keep Spears and Bowen. Let Hatcher walk. We're obviously getting rid of Barber, and most likely Columbo. Unless we sign a guard in free agency (don't know who is out there), we seem to be set to keep Davis and resign Kosier. Maybe they think someone on the roster is ready to step up at the guard position (Brewster???) , but I doubt it. Like most on here, I would have loved to have taken a DL and a guard (Rackley), but the front office has to have a plan. They're not that stupid.

This is one of thee worst drafts for safeties, so you just dont take one for the sake of taking one because you need a safety.

The only decent safety in this draft was Rahim Moore IMO, and saying that he was the best safety on the board of a safety class that wasn't all the great doesn't bring alot of confidence, but I wouldn't have a problem taking him in the second round, becuase he was suited for a Ryans defensive scheme and rated as a second round pick, but if the value there was for Carter instead, and fills a need, which clearly it was since Dallas had the pick in so fast, that's fine.

Alot of in the box safeties left, not what dallas needs for this scheme, they need a center fielder free safety, and we have AOA still on the roster. I wouldn't mind signing Huff, but not for the price he seems to think he deserves.

I assure you they do not have cap problems. They set up their contracts last year to take advantage of the uncapped year and didn't know what the situation this year would be like. They are easily adjustable. Ask AdamJT sometime.

I think Huff is already a done deal.

Ill just be surprised if Garrett gets him on the field with his history with Rookie Skill guys. Thats how low my expectations are.

As I stated in another thread, I'd like to see us make a trade or two and take two or three players in the 4th/5th round rather than 6th and 7th round picks that most likely won't make the roster. If we could pick up a guard, CB/safety, and a DE I'd be pretty happy with the draft. I know there's a lot of people unhappy with our 3rd round pick (me included), but we obviously had to take a RB somewhere if the plan was to get rid of Barber. I guess getting a good one isn't all that bad. He will add another dimension to our offense. Now we just have to get a guard to clear some room for him.

Is there really a lot of anger over no safety? I think most people assume we'll sign Huff or someone else in FA to go along with a re-signed Sensabaugh.

Having said everything I've said in this thread, if Sensabaugh were to walk and we whiffed on signing Huff, well, there's always a very high pick in next year's draft. :bang2:

JG actually changed quite a bit in that area once Wade was gone, wouldn't you say?
MBIII didn't see the field much
